Jimmy2 Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 I won this cigar in a poker game here and a very nice winning I must say and it was my duty to review this cigar. Wrapper: Golden Reddish Brown with dark oily spots overall a very oily cigar Construction: Excellent Smell cold :Sweet floral with hints or sweet chocolate Draw cold : Spicy sweet tobacco Right from the first puff med to full flavor noted through out !!! Sweet and tangy rich tobacco flavor Maple syrup coco sea salt nutty flavors earthy flavors Grassy flavors Sweet cherry flavor caramelized sugar With every puff this cigar delivers more flavor than you could ask for just amazing !! The flavors this cigar offers just punch you in the face with multiple combinations pure skill masterfully blended !!! Layer after layer of dark thick creamy tobacco flavors leaving a long finish on the palette . I love this cigar right now !!! But for the members who love to age there cigars this is the real deal !!! A classic yes !!!! Its the BEST EL I have ever had to date a true master piece !!! This cigar makes you realize why we love Cubans and know why they are the benchmark when it comes to Cigars !!! The BEST in the WORLD !!! I am not one who drink wine no more with cigars as I think they really hurt the flavors when enjoying both. But this cigar would go great with a Eastern European Dessert wine a match made in heaven I would think. It would only bring out the flavors defining them even more. GET them they are REALLY that good !! Rated: 4 1/2 out of 5 smoke rings 93+ solid
jeromeroselli Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 I've got one sitting in my humidor staring me in the face. I find myself admiring it, as it's construction and wrapper are beautiful. That thing is a work of art. Waiting for a special occasion though. If I won it by chance, I don't blame you, I would have smoked it too. Nice review Jimmy jeremy
aavkk Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 great review, thanks Jimmy! It sure looks great! Now I dont have ANY experience with Cuaba is it a very distict flavor profile?
Jimmy2 Posted March 7, 2009 Author Posted March 7, 2009 This cigar is nothing like the regular line and thank GOD for that .It has it own character and it has a little bit of everything to offer a cigar lover it cannot disappoint !!!!
El Presidente Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Great review Jimmy. One of the best releases of 08. So un Cuaba like
Professor Twain Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Great review Jimmy. I have never had a Cuaba that I thought was worth smoking... maybe this is the one.
Ken Gargett Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Great review Jimmy. I have never had a Cuaba that I thought was worth smoking... maybe this is the one. it is the ONLY one.
Guest rob Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 When you do a review Jimmy - you really do it well.
maalouly Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 I am yet to try this one and I've noticed alot of you have said that its' the only cuaba cigar that you guys like but I think the Cuaba Salomones is amazing. It provides everything a cigar can provide the smoothness, the creaminess, the look and feel of it. Great review Jimmy and I can't wait to try it soon. Cheers, Elie.
Padrino Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Nice review Jimmy ! These sticks are just so good right now I doubt i'll ever have the patience to age them. There is something very old school(ish) about the flavours, I can't quite verbalize it but it takes me back to some vintage smokes i've had.
broozer Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 i love the cuaba line and i have smoked two of my cuaba EL's from the one box i bought. so far, i am NOT impressed at all. i think they will be good one day, but for me that day is not here yet. i think i'm gonna buy 3-4 more boxes and just forget about them for a very long time. bruce
jeromeroselli Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 The difference in posts between Padrino and broozer just goes to show... To each his own.
shrink Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Thanks for the nice review, Jimmy. I have only smoked one so far, and I found it to be very one-dimensional. It had a very "EL" like profile; espresso and cocoa, with no spice to speak of. Rob loves 'em. Let' hope you guys have good powers of intuition!
smokem Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Very nice review! I've heard overall too many good things about these so I had to order a box. Should arrive any day now.
Padrino Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 The difference in posts between Padrino and broozer just goes to show... To each his own. It could possibly be the usual Habanos inconsistency, similar to the Monte Sublimes EL where one box is heavenly whilst the other is just plain ordinary. Of the 3 Cuaba's i've had from my only box they have all been supremely good. Quite a different story to my Monte Sublimes.
Jimmy2 Posted March 9, 2009 Author Posted March 9, 2009 The one I smoked needed no age it smoked as it should have great young as the blender blended it. There is two flavor profiles Young and Aged its personal choice to what you like.To say one is better than the other is ridiculous as most people in the world smoke cigars young as the blender intended it to be.We are a small percentage that ages our cigars and if the market was tended to us it would have been out of business a long time ago.Just happens to be CC have a great aged flavor profile that is enjoyed by many. I have smoke aged cigars some very old and rare this blew them away hands down even the Don Alfredo Selection No.52 I smoked. Maybe some of you gents just smoked a bad one as the one I smoked was an excellent cigar tons of flavor and very complex also I have been smoking for over 20+ years maybe this helped to. If a cigar taste's bad young than no age will help it as cigars should taste good when young and than can be rated on how they will age down the road. I wish you luck and hope one day some of you smoke the cigar that i did it was very memorable.
stargazer14 Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Nice review Jimmy, but tell us how you really feel... I have been saving to buy a box of the EL, but wanted to mention I had my first Salomones this past weekend, and after the put downs i have read about this brand - I really liked it! I was going to post a review shortly but may just add to this thread. Not sure where to bad rap comes from but I would recommend a try on the regular line to anyone.
smokem Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 I've been looking forward to trying these. Just received a box (not from here) and more mold than I've ever seen. I would post some scary pictures, but I think their size is too big. Link to pictures. http://s578.photobucket.com/albums/ss223/smokem1313/
jeromeroselli Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Please post, i'd love to see as I'm sure many other would as well!
Trevor2118 Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 The difference in posts between Padrino and broozer just goes to show... To each his own. Fully agree....how oftern do we see this. To each his own and (I would add) try them all...........except Guantanamera
MIKA27 Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 Great review Jimmy. I myself tried one of these EL's last night and it is a fantastic experience! So many flavours, especially the sweet undertones of Chocolate, sugar and maple syrup. The cigar itself is a sexy piece of handy work!
perfectform Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 Hi Jimmy, nice review. I've only had one of these but it was awful. Maybe I should re-visit.
