cigarnut Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 Hi,does anyone know where I can buy bolivar gold medals. They did stop making them a few years ago.Hopeing there are a few boxes floating around. thanks
sillyrib Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 The original Boli GM hasn't been made for over a decade or two and is probably one of the most expensive collectors cigars on the market. A reissue by cigar merchant Wolters was released last year(2 years?) ago and is now sold out. They are available in the aftermarket at substantially inflated rates. Habanos SA issued a price list which listed the Boli GM as a regional release this year but no mention of it was made at the habanos festival and it was not on the official release paper.

Tave1225 Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 These ae probably some of the most difficult cigars to find. (real ones:-D ).
El Presidente Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 They should be out again last quarter this year. My understanding is that there is going to be a limited run. Not sure how much of this was habanos rumour or wishful thinking.
Van55 Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 I don't know how reliable this is, but consider it for what it is worth: Cuban Cigar Prices in Spain by Rafael Bernardo The Spanish Government publishes an official price list for cigars, that all Estancos (Tobacco Shops) must apply. An updated list for the year 2006 (valid since January, 2nd) of all Havana cigars sold in Spain follows. Take into account that these prices include all taxes and are applicable in all Estancos over the country (but the Canary Islands), and that there are not discounts buying by the box or in bigger quantities. Duty Free shops at the airports do not follow this price list; they usually sell brands or shapes not found in Estancos, but prices are quite similar (maybe a little more expensive). Cigars purchased through the second channel (bars, restaurants, etc.) may legally cost a 15% more. SPANISH "ESTANCOS" PRICE LIST OF HAVANA CIGARS IN EUROS (EUR), VALID SINCE JANUARY, 2006 (1 EUR = 1.18511 USD, 1 EUR = 1.37801 CAD, 1 EUR = 0.68810 GBP as of January 2nd) BRAND/Name Single Pack of 3 Pack of 5 Box of 10 Box of 25 BOLÍVAR Belicosos Finos 7.30 --- --- --- 182.50 Bolívar Tubos No.1 5.45 --- --- --- 136.25 Bolívar Tubos No.2 4.85 --- --- --- 121.25 Bolívar Tubos No.3 3.40 --- --- --- 85.00 Bonitas 3.05 --- --- --- 76.25 Coronas 5.10 --- --- --- 127.50 Coronas Extra 5.45 --- --- --- 136.25 Coronas Gigantes 11.30 --- --- --- 282.50 Coronas Junior 4.15 --- --- --- 103.75 Gold Medal 9.00 --- --- 90.00 --- Inmensas 7.75 --- --- --- 193.75 Petit Coronas 4.20 --- --- --- 105.00 Royal Coronas 7.40 --- --- --- 185.00 The foregoing is from this website: http://www.mycigarsite.com/subopciones/opc...pcion1ceng.html
cigarnut Posted April 21, 2006 Author Posted April 21, 2006 Thank you very much for the info muchly appreciated, however I spend a lot of time in Spain sunshine there not like the UK,I have to dat this year or last year not seen any gold medals.I think it is another one of Habanos's ploys to keep us on a string. Thanks for the info any way I have taken note of it and will use it when I go back next week to see what feathers I can russel up.
gvlagos Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Van, i know Rafael - and that info is valid. -George
patrick Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 Too bad I cannot preorder a case of these badboys...

Not sure how much of this was habanos » rumour or wishful thinking. Yes, "information" about havannas seems to be more often rumours than verified information. If you look at the homepage of the official German Habanos importer and look at their newsletters (vol. 12 at http://www.5thavenue.de/pdf/cigarjournal_nr_12.pdf ), it says 10,000 cigars will be made, sold in boxes of 10, exclusively through Casas del Habano in Germany. And now they appear on the official Spanish list... Go figure! :-| The main point being that we'll eventually get them this year (and that I can get my hands on a few boxes, of course :-D ;-) ).

cfc1016 Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 Continuing my newfound hobby of resurrecting old threads while 24:24 is away... Would love to see these released again. @awkwardPause graciously shared one with me a while back. Wow. What a smoke. Would that I could have a mastercase.
avaldes Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 Depressed I didn’t buy more BGM’s and Especiales when they were available. Enjoyed every one I smoked and only have a couple left. 1
Lotusguy Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 $600/boxAbsolutely ludicrous. They are far from the best Bolivar.
Popular Post PigFish Posted December 29, 2018 Popular Post Posted December 29, 2018 So far I have seen posts from Roman, Austin and even departed Van... These are turning into tear-jerkers!!! -the Pig 5

houdini Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 Bolivars are my favorite marca....but I didnt really enjoy the Gold Medals.
Derboesekoenig Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 Are they better than the BCE? I understand they were cut around the same time. How much would those be worth?
LLC Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 They are smoking great now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I thought they were over rated when the re-release came out and did not bother buying any. I wish I had though considering today's prices on them. 1
