This series seeks to explore whether a particular cigar is humidor worthy.:cigar:

Cost these days is an issue for many so let's see if we can highlight some absolute standouts.  This should particularly assist those new to the cigar world.

To be fair, most of the cigars we have featured to date have scored exceptionally well. Surprisingly well!

Scoring is: 1-3 (Poor)   4-6 (Average to good)   7-10  (very good to excellent)  Use the Poll.

TodayPartagas Presidentes 47 × 158 mm (6¼″) Perfecto

How did this pre 1960's mofo survive the Habanos bean counters when so many others found their way to the cutting room floor.

I am a huge fan of the Presidentes and I would take a post 2020 model over a pre 2000 model anytime. Now that is simply a matter of personal taste. These were often described as "old school" which was cover for "as complex as a rubber boot." I think there was something in that.....but hey.....rubber boots are damn useful!  Today I find them to be a more refined animal. I love them. ;)

One of my favorite Partagas - consistent, full flavored - delicious! I will take a Presidentes over a D4 any day and I bet I’m the only one. Wonderful oft overlooked cigar.

Presidentes over a D4? I am in the same camp.

Admittedly, I have only smoked one of these but I wasn't really impressed them. Not bad, not good, just sort of 'meh'. I love figurados and initially was drawn to them due to my admiration with the Hemingway line. Gun to my head, I'd take the AF Hemingway 8 out of 10 times.

These have proven to be elusive for me over the years, never can seem to be in the right place at the right time to get a box. Gotta have goals though. 😊

For the longest time they were passed over. Early 2000's ones had construction issues in general. Gave the cigar a bad rap.

Wasn't that true of pretty much all the CCs of the era? Construction problems and some conventional wisdom that the change in tobacco strains led to combustion problems. I think the blend used in the Presidentes may have changed at some point since the early 2000s. My recollection is the older Presidentes were a somewhat powerful and spicy cigar and the newer ones are less so. It's a great shape and more of the brands should produce one.

It took a long time for me to score a box, which I finally managed to do last year. I have only had one and it wasn't bad. Love the double figurado shape, and for some reason I can't even look at the box without launching into a bad Edward G. Robinson accent. From Key Largo, not Ten Commandments. Myeahhh! No other cigar makes me do that. Significant?

Since I have only had a small sample size I can't comment on construction, etc.

These sound great...are they available in 10ct boxes?

Sadly, no. 25ct DB only.

This guy knows. I should have checked CCW.
