Paul on drums

Paul on guitar

The Beatles were monsters. George could play drums. Paul and John were proficient at a number of instruments.  It astounds me the talent of both Lennon and McCartney as songwriters and they wrote bangers.

Oh my...that drumming on Steve Miller's 'My Dark Hour'. The first time I heard I asked myself, "how powerful is Paul on this drum track?" It's most unlike other songs that he has drummed on. The reason? Well...Paul was working with Glyn Johns (the engineer on the Get Back Sessions in January 1969) at Olympic Studios in May '69 when the other 3 Beatles showed up demanding that Paul sign a contract agreeing that Allen Klein was to be their new manager. Paul said 'no' and then there was an unholy row afterwards, followed by the 3 Beatles leaving. Paul was supremely peeved and asked Steve Miller, who happened to be there that night, if he could play on his track. The rest is history, as they say!
