El Presidente Posted March 16 Posted March 16 EAR: Email Assistance Required. "Quick question Robbo. I have the chance to pick one box from the following boxes from my work colleague of mine who is moving into deck extensions. He will sell any one of them to me for $550 USD. The rest will go on bond roberts to help fund your next holiday house. Only kidding matey! You know I have the palate of a billygoat. I just love cigars. Choices are 2019 Partagas Serie D4, 2017 Juan Lopez Seleccion 2 or 2017 Hoyo De Monterrey Epicure Number 2. I like each of the three cigars. Construction looks good on each as does aroma from the box. From the heart Rob, which would you choose? I know what I would choose. Which would you good folk choose?
Popular Post JohnS Posted March 16 Popular Post Posted March 16 I would choose the 2019 Partagas Serie D No.4. No question. One of the most consistent cigars I have smoked from that period. 11
Popular Post LizardGizmo Posted March 16 Popular Post Posted March 16 This one’s a no-brainer for me: 2019 D4. D4s from ‘19 have been absolutely lights out. I can’t remember a single cigar from any factory that has disappointed me. 2016/2017 is probably one of my least favorite ‘vintages’. Hoyo 2 have proven to be especially inconsistent for me from that period. JL2 just don’t really ring my bell and I wouldn’t bet on a ‘17 doing it for me. 9
Popular Post Mike Mecklenburg Posted March 16 Popular Post Posted March 16 I love all three but would pick a box of Juan Lopez Seleccion No.2. For me it's the stronger cigar and I am looking long term since the box is already 9-years-old. 8
Çnote Posted March 16 Posted March 16 I'd go Epi2 as that's my vibe between the 3, vintages be damned. 4
Popular Post Duder Posted March 16 Popular Post Posted March 16 My bias is strong against D4 and even stronger for more age especially with the Hoyo & JL. JL2 is my pick as with age they can be spectacular. 6
gormag38 Posted March 16 Posted March 16 Epi 2 for me as well. D4s are not my jam; despite trying. I'm still sitting on half of a PSP box from '21 that I'm hoping will evolve into something I enjoy (or maybe for my tastes to evolve lol). JL2s are close but the I love the cream and spice from an aged Hoyo. 4
Popular Post Havanaaddict Posted March 16 Popular Post Posted March 16 I am normally a guy that will always go with the cigar that has more age. That being said, I think the PSD4 is more smokable at that age and going forward. I do love me some JL2 and they can be good now but really shine at 20 years the same with the HdM Epi 2. 5
Popular Post cigaraholic Posted March 16 Popular Post Posted March 16 Without seeing them myself I gotta go with 2019. 5

Completely different cigars past the 20 year mark. Especially the JL. 4
WestCoastSmokin Posted March 16 Posted March 16 Gotta go D4 here. My box has been consistent and I certainly don’t have enough of them! I love the JL2 and that would be my second choice, but I’m pretty well stocked on those. 3
griller Posted March 16 Posted March 16 I went JL but the D4 ain't no slouch. I like the Epi2 but it's farther down the robusto list for me. 3
unaslob Posted March 17 Posted March 17 No brainer on the D4. Good young. Great with age. Precovid D4. Out of this world. 3
Edicion Posted March 17 Posted March 17 I haven't been lucky with 2019s but I'd still go for the D4s. 3
El Presidente Posted March 17 Author Posted March 17 My mate has gone with the D4's and thanks you all immensely 4
gerardow2 Posted March 17 Posted March 17 HdM Epi#2 for me. I think that’s the year I started smoking them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 3
chasy Posted March 17 Posted March 17 D4 for sure. Epi 2 is way to inconsistent, I really only smoke them as a second cigar of the day or when I'm not going to be in full blown enjoyment mode. JL2 is a go-to for me as well, but just a shade beneath the D4 in terms of delivery. 2
Puros Y Vino Posted March 17 Posted March 17 All great cigars buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut.. The D4 is my pick. It's great fresh and ages well. The Hoyo is better fresh but it's mild/medium bodied and has less "legs". The Juan Lopez sits in between, but still D4 is the way to go. 3
