On September 24, 2025, La Casa del Habano Edmonton, in Canada, officially opened its doors. The event brought together around 70 Habano enthusiasts. Among the distinguished guests were Mr. Rod Frank, Mayor of Strathcona County, Alberta, as well as Roger Lanteigne and Francisco Rojas, Commercial manager and development director of Havana House Cigars and Tobacco Merchants representatives from Havana House Cigars and Tobacco Merchants Ltd., the exclusive distributor of Habanos in the Canadian market, and Mrs. Angela Giannoulis, vice president of Primero Cigar Imports, the sub-distributor for the West Coast. This new franchise has been operating since August 2025, bringing great pride to its owners.

Bolívar New Gold Medal (ring gauge 48 x 165 mm length) was the highlight of the night, presented by Mr. Francisco Rojas, Habanos Master of Academy. This vitola represents an exclusive product for La Casa del Habano network, made “Totalmente a Mano con Tripa Larga” (Totally handmade with Long Filler), with wrapper, binder, and filler leaves from the prestigious Vuelta Abajo*, in Pinar del Río, Cuba.

The hosts created a wonderful atmosphere for the evening, complete with live music, Cuban rum cocktails, and a variety of culinary offerings —including a sophisticated cake featuring the La Casa del Habano logo, enjoyed by all attendees.

La Casa del Habano Edmonton joins another franchise already established in Windsor, Ontario—continuing the expansion across Canada. It offers not only the finest cigars in the world – Habano – but also a refined, specialized service where Cuban culture, tradition, and exclusivity come together – the core pillars of the La Casa del Habano experience.

I see packaging that isn't drab green in the background. I thought that was a no-no in Canada. I also see colorful confetti flying in front of a cigar shop. Don't these people care about children at all?

How are they gonna make it without significant stock in a country with a near total smoking ban? What a time to open an LCDH.

Thanks for posting this @El Presidente I live within an hour of here and had no idea it existed. I plan to make a point of stopping by in the next couple of weeks and see If the stock is true to their web site. If so i will pick up some singles as an option to get a couple cigars that are on my bucket list to try.

If a LCDH can’t make it work in Toronto or Montreal, I’m not sure how it can in Edmonton. Maybe Toronto and Montreal were related to the rent cost of being downtown in those cities. Both were great but Montreal in particular because you could still smoke in it. I hope it works for them.

I hope they have a year round indoor lounge for enthusiasts. I bet there is not much outdoor cigar smoking going on in Edmonton this time of year.

I'm sure. Banff was a huge disappointment for lack of a  smoking lounge.
