I am still not sure how this Manny Iriarte Enterprises’ OpusX Society, relationship with Fuente works.

The OpusX La Edición de la Sociedad, the first cigar release from Manny Iriarte Enterprises’ OpusX Society, has added a second packaging option.

In addition to the 20-count boxes that the cigar debuted in, it is now offered in three-packs. The cigar is the same: a 6 1/4 x 49 grand corona that uses an undisclosed blend that is made by Arturo Fuente.

Each cigar has a price of roughly $90 before local taxes.

Every OpusX I've smoked has had the predominant flavor note of weak Coca-Cola to me. Some have been better than others and offered a few other flavors in the mix. Most have not. I honestly do not understand the hype about them. Maybe someone who loves them can explain it to me? There are a few cigars I would conceivably pay that much for. Not of this brand though.

Pure madness. Back at the upscale country club sharing these with the boys is strictly a status symbol.

You would probably have better luck building a time machine and asking this question on the old cigar family forum. 🤣

Which, at that country club you speak of, is no different than sharing the latest “Cuban” as well. 🤷

I mean, I don't think they are particularly good cigars. They aren't BAD cigars, they are generally well constructed and offer an even burn. The flavor is inoffensive. But that's about the nicest things I can say about them. The hype is genuinely baffling to me. I suspect if you put them up blind against literally anything out of Fab5 and especially the BR, nobody would pick them as the better smoke.

Agreed my man. I stick with fair priced cigars that over deliver. That’s Fabrica5 for me, glad to have found them. 👍🏼

I couldn't agree more... Nothing against the brand, story behind the line, etc. but I've just never had a truly memorable & complex smoking experience from an OpusX.

If they're your thing, then go for it but they don't scratch an itch for me.

Smoked an Angel's Share at an event last week here in Perth. I could not rid myself of the taste for the rest of the day. Sickening. Metallic.

Opus used to be very good and had an amazing blend in the early years, I bought my 1st box back in 03. The allure was it used to be “exclusive” and “ limited production”, and your retailer had to be a high buying Fuente acct etc. Now, it seems like every thing has an X band on it, and most blends taste weak, burn to fast and have no flavor, but they do have pretty bands. I think that’s what people tend to lean towards, the bands and the mythology, I even flaunt them for photos because they are photogenic. That’s my take at least.

I smoked some early on when they first came out. Was given some rare ones at the RTDA in 1999. They were okay I guess? Mild flavor that reminded me of stale Coca-Cola out of a warm can. Good construction and even burn, nothing really bad about them. I vaguely recall that some of them had floral notes, but it wasn't anything that made me think I wanted to smoke any more of them. I don't actually think I've smoked one since the early-mid 2000's. There are probably still a couple of the 1999 RTDA ones in my humidor if I haven't already given them away to someone more impressed with them than I was.

Only had a couple that made me want to revisit. I feel like they need time or something.  Maybe they just suck.

I am digging into it, but it looks weird especially against the background of Fuente's tangled relationship with Prometheus.

I've smoked a dozen give or take and they're pretty good cigars but to me it's gingerbread, gingerbread, gingerbread and it's boring. I'm currently aging some as I was advised they turned great after 15 years, we'll see...

Most Cohibas deliver wonderfully so if I had to smoke a cigar as a status symbol, well, I wouldn't think twice.

Opus X were unique, nuanced and complex when they debuted in the mid 1990s. Since then I think they’ve overproduced and pale in comparison to their early years. Still smokable but not worth the price, IMHO.

From   CA

When the cigars launched last year, they had a suggested retail price of $90 apiece, or $1,800 per 20-count box, but the company says it leaves pricing up to the individual retailer. Some stores are charging up to $130 per cigar, so this three-pack could retail for as low as $270 or as high as $390, depending on the shop.

According to the company, The OpusX Society has products in 347 stores in the United States, and each one is eligible to carry the cigars, although not all necessarily will.

This my opinion, you would have to be high to buy them. Behike, same. I guess I am poor and can’t relate. 😄
