El Presidente Posted September 23, 2025 Posted September 23, 2025 This series to explore whether a particular cigar is humidor worthy. Cost these days is an issue for many so let's see if we can highlight some absolute standouts. This should particularly assist those new to the cigar world. To be fair, most of the cigars we have featured to date have scored exceptionally well. Surprisingly well! Scoring is: 1-3 (Poor) 4-6 (Average to good) 7-10 (very good to excellent) Use the Poll. You are more than free to comment away Partagas Short has been a mainstay cigar for many on FOH. Most of us have smoked Partagas Shorts for many many years. The Partagas Short to me is a blue collar cigar legend. Today: Partagas Shorts. Do you enjoy them? Fresh or aged? If aged...how long before they generally hit their stride. Have you noticed a change over the years? Let's kick off the discussion
Popular Post Ford2112 Posted September 23, 2025 Popular Post Posted September 23, 2025 Great short smoke! Easy with a good cup of coffee, suitable for an evening smoke. Reliable. Consistent. One of my favorite Minutos. 6
Popular Post zacca Posted September 23, 2025 Popular Post Posted September 23, 2025 I’ll preface this by saying I love them. When they’re on, to me there’s not much better But… Construction is such a wildcard with them. I’ve found they can weigh anywhere from 6 to almost 9(!)g. In other words, one can be almost 50% more filled than another. I also find they are pretty sensitive to temp and humidity - they have a very small window where they perform well. Otherwise they’ll taste like a cigarette or they’ll have a tough draw, vegetal flavors, and thin smoke. But when they’re on…that’s why I keep going back. 6
Popular Post Allroz Posted September 24, 2025 Popular Post Posted September 24, 2025 Might be an unpopular opinion, but I’m not a fan. Better options for similar or less out there (RGPC, Principe, RASSC). I’ve tried but just never got it - at least I have two cabs to practice on. 7
Popular Post Lucas Buck Posted September 24, 2025 Popular Post Posted September 24, 2025 Great little cigar. The cabs are a mainstay in my humidor. Great value even at today’s prices. They also age very well and get better and better as the years go by. 5
Popular Post rcarlson Posted September 24, 2025 Popular Post Posted September 24, 2025 Tasty as hell. Never had a construction issue. 6
Popular Post jfire Posted September 24, 2025 Popular Post Posted September 24, 2025 I’d say I’m in the love them boat…7-10 years is the start of their sweet spot for aging. Still working on a 2013 cab, that when I want to toy with close friends. I give them one to enjoy in my indoor lounge. Their eyes open wide and the room aroma is incredible. They always burn their fingers on the nubs… 13 2
Popular Post Li Bai Posted September 24, 2025 Popular Post Posted September 24, 2025 I love them, fresh or aged this cigar always goes straight to the point. It's my comfort cigar, never been disappointed by one. To me it's the best minutos but I like them all a lot to be fair 👍 6
Popular Post JohnS Posted September 24, 2025 Popular Post Posted September 24, 2025 Reliable and consistent. Yes, I'd agree but I didn't smoke one for years after going through a 25-count box quite quickly (probably in less than a year). Now I have a 10 year-old 50 cab I've opened this year that will keep me company for quite some time! 5
zeedubbya Posted September 24, 2025 Posted September 24, 2025 Best Go anywhere, do anything cigar made. Also priced well. Smoke them at little league games, fishing trips, quick smoke on the deck, on a car ride to/from work, give to friends to smoke with no worry. I will smoke them anywhere and they always deliver. Rarely dissatisfied—I can only recall a few, but they just got pitched and lit up another one. For me, Party Shorts are probably the cigar I’d lean on if everything else was out of reach financially (getting close on this, which I never imagined would happen) Superb cigar. I’m gonna burn one or two today. 4
Mike Mecklenburg Posted September 24, 2025 Posted September 24, 2025 I like them, I smoke them and I have them but I always seem to reach for Hoyo, H. Upmann or Monte (in the same vitola) before the Party Shorts. 4
BG318 Posted September 24, 2025 Posted September 24, 2025 Had one in the woods last weekend. Perfect scenario for the cigar. Enjoying the scenery and the cigar satisfied me without demanding too much attention. 3
Popular Post westg Posted September 24, 2025 Popular Post Posted September 24, 2025 The perfect second smoke. By that you have just finished a San Juan or Roman Allones No 3 or a Quai D'Orsay 54 or something similar. You palate is screaming for more but you know you can't do another cigar of that format. The Party Short is the perfect second smoke every time for me. Bought hundreds from Rob. The 2012 cabs were delicious. The 2008 cab. Sweet Jesus. 5
Glass Half Full Posted September 28, 2025 Posted September 28, 2025 True to the marca IMO — Excellent when very well aged. In general, I’d prefer to wait for years to light these as young ones can be bitter and rarely do justice to what’s possible. Anything less than 5 years is often regrettable; greater than 10 years can be quite remarkable; greater than 15 years enters “wow” territory. 2
Habanoschris Posted September 28, 2025 Posted September 28, 2025 I am a fan. I have a bunch in my humidor. I had an incredibly memorable box of these. 2
Connoisseur Kim Posted September 28, 2025 Posted September 28, 2025 It's different from other Partagas cigars, but surprisingly packs tons of Partagas flavours. Although I prefer longer ones, I still think it's a good 50 min - 1hr CC and its size makes it ideal for either quick smokes or morning CC, much like the HUHC. 2
Popular Post Dlowil Posted September 28, 2025 Popular Post Posted September 28, 2025 Smoking one now. Been sitting in the humidor for about 4 months. Loaded with baking spice alongside the bell pepper, cocoa creamy combo. Sublime experience. 6 1
