El Presidente Posted September 3 Posted September 3 Your Pet Peeves of 2025? Cigars or otherwise ....what getting your goat......grinding your gonads OCD members are limited to three peeves only 2
Ford2112 Posted September 3 Posted September 3 I have some: 1. People are in waaaay too much of a hurry. Drivers in California are particularly egregious. 2. People in groups just texting on their phones and not speaking to each other in public, people texting while driving, people texting me novels instead of calling me. 3. Busy bodies. My mom lives in a place rampant in snitches and rats. 2 1
Popular Post El Presidente Posted September 3 Author Popular Post Posted September 3 2025. When did carmakers decide it was a good idea to push car feature subscriptions? Want heated seats .....pay $10 a month and they turn it on. Want an extra 40 HP?.....$15 a month. Want app access after the warranty period? $12 a month. What peeves me is that in most cases the cars are sold with these features activated and they generally stay activated for the warranty period. After that it reverts to the "poverty pack". 8 1

Popular Post Goldeneye Posted September 3 Popular Post Posted September 3 Seeing people always on their bloody phones. People can't go for a dog walk, take their kids to the park or do anything outdoors without staring at their phones. I think people are afraid of the quiet and being outside. I often walk my dog by a baseball diamond or soccer field and the parents have their heads down on their phones instead of being in the moment watching their kids. 3 2

I didn't notice they did this. I thought it was very cool when I was able to add "remote start" to my car after I purchased it since it wasn't available for my model at the time. I think I paid $299 and did a software update download to the car and it worked. Must have been a pre-cursor to the monthly fee idea. I don't like it either. 3
Popular Post Boxer31 Posted September 3 Popular Post Posted September 3 Sporting events and concerts - people spend the whole time recording and watching on their phone. 7
El Niño Posted September 3 Posted September 3 The way that social media fights for your attention annoys me. I actually found this forum in giving up doom scrolling for Lent, haha! Similarly, media feels cheaper and less thought-through these days. When I watch movies or listen to music, it feels like people cared to get details right. Modern momentum and low barrier for entry with new technology is amazing, but we've definitely lost some finesse. 4

I work a second job in a restaurant, and it’s amazing to me how many people - families especially - sit at a table and don’t speak to each other, but are on their phones until the meal comes. It’s a disgusting result of not having to go outside and make up your own game(s). And it’s not the kid’s fault; 100% on the parents I believe… 8 hours ago, Boxer31 said: Sporting events and concerts - people spend the whole time recording and watching on their phone. Maynard James Keenan agrees with this 100%. As do I, btw. 1 1
Mr.Q121 Posted September 3 Posted September 3 1.People that walk their dogs in a stroller like they are babies. 2. I agree as well with whole families just staring down at their phones while waiting for dinner. We take a deck of UNO and play with our girls while waiting for our food. It's a great way to keep them off their phones. 4

I'm borrowing this (and any other suggestions you may have to keep kids off phones/tablets)! My wife and I are fighting the good fight on this with our 6 year-old, who also happens to be a tech/engineering wiz. 2
Popular Post helix Posted September 4 Popular Post Posted September 4 Social media, the diet of Algorithms feeding only tailored content and the lack of common sense. Cheap manufacturing and general quality. 5
Popular Post pohlmad Posted September 4 Popular Post Posted September 4 I am peeved by extreme feelings towards someone because their opinion does/does not align with theirs. What happened to having a conversation, feeling comfortable sharing your opinion, and listening to others that may help challenge and refine your own? I love to hear different perspectives and opinions! 2 3
Popular Post MickVanWinkle Posted September 4 Popular Post Posted September 4 Some celebrate Christmas in July, so I’ll take Festivus in September. 1) Clout seekers and influencer culture. Similarly, “Only those who do not seek power are qualified to hold it” 2) Meetings that should have been an email and vice versa - I’d prefer strategic communication (within work) 3) Feeling obligated to take the entirety of the 3 pet peeve limit. 4 1
Popular Post Lucas Buck Posted September 4 Popular Post Posted September 4 Left lane loafers Self check in lieu of human cashiers Smoking bans 7
Bri Fi Posted September 4 Posted September 4 1) my kids taking 2 hours to eat dinner. 2) cc prices. 3) when my wife asks me for advice on a problem but doesn’t listen. (Inevitably ends in an “I told you so”) 1 1
Capn_Jackson Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Employer micro-management. Pop musicians who sing to electronic “drums” instead of employing a hard-working, actual drummer…but this has been my biggest peeve for about 25 years now. 3
JDoughty Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Hate and intolerance of differences. Lack of respect for other people's personal autonomy and right to determine their own identity and expression. Generally going backward instead of forward in how we value science and education. I mean, Cuban cigar prices also suck, but that's a drop in the bucket compared to the current culture war. 4
Redgoldband Posted September 4 Posted September 4 1. People not using turn signals 2. +1 on left lane loafers. 2 1
Popular Post Li Bai Posted September 4 Popular Post Posted September 4 1- adults on electric scooters 2- people talking on their phone with the speaker on EVERYWHERE 3- fewer and fewer people seem to value privacy these days. 3 1 1

tbelle7 Posted September 4 Posted September 4 1. Tariffs 2. The lack of understanding by the general public of who actually pays the tariffs. HINT: It's not who they say it is. 3. The need to check Twitter every morning for an update on how much tariff I might be paying 30-50 days from now. 3
Ruggerpgh99 Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Men wearing hats indoors, especially while eating. Take your hat of, troglodytes! 3
BrightonCorgi Posted September 4 Posted September 4 1. Talking on speaker phone 2. Virtue signaling 3. Smoking weed in their car while driving 4. Influencers 2
