madandana Posted August 26, 2025 Posted August 26, 2025 Hey gang, Dana and I are excited to leave on our first Vikings River Cruise. First time being to this part of the world so we were hoping to get some advice on cool places to buy/smoke. We will be in the following towns. Munich Salzburg Passau Linz Krems Vienna Bratislava Budapest Amsterdam Looking forward to this, thanks for the help. 3
Wookie Posted August 26, 2025 Posted August 26, 2025 We did that same cruise last summer...great time! Cigars were fairly scarce, but I brought my own and nobody complained about smoking on upper deck. Have a blast! 4
helix Posted August 26, 2025 Posted August 26, 2025 Looking forward to hearing about the cruise from you, nothing but positives from friends who have. Should be a great trip. BYOC. 2
Popular Post Goldeneye Posted August 26, 2025 Popular Post Posted August 26, 2025 I did a Viking Cruise on the Danube in 2023, absolutely loved it. We started in Regensburg and i bought cigars for the trip at a shop there as well as some singles to bring home. Selection was ok, but then again I am from Canada where B&M cigar stores are pretty rare, so I thought the small store in Regensburg was fantastic. There was a spot designated for smoking on the top deck so that's where i would go for a cigar and beer, worked out great. Enjoy the trip, I loved it. 2 3
Fuzz AI Posted August 26, 2025 Posted August 26, 2025 Great to hear! You and Dana will be bringing down the average age of the passengers on that cruise! 2
Garand Posted August 26, 2025 Posted August 26, 2025 Salzburg and Vienna are good places to buy CC. All of Austria in general, Munich is dry. 1

Popular Post JohnS Posted August 26, 2025 Popular Post Posted August 26, 2025 Hey Mike and Dana, you'll absolutely love this cruise. I did it with Eleni in July 2022. Salzburg is the city of Mozart. It's funny, because I think Mozart would be turning in his grave if he knew of what a tourist industry his home town has become in his name! Amsterdam is an awesome city to end with. Make sure to take a canal cruise and check out the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum for some cultural appreciation of Rembrandt and Van Gogh, of course! 7
Wookie Posted August 26, 2025 Posted August 26, 2025 I didn’t do Amsterdam as part of last summer’s cruise but I spent a ton of time there in my early working years on business. The Dutch are brilliant and I believe they colonized Indonesia…memory is hazy. But Rijsttafel is something you must do in Amsterdam…amazing cultural confluence. 2 1
westg Posted August 27, 2025 Posted August 27, 2025 You guys know how to have fun. Have great trip 😎⛴️ 1

Popular Post Webbo Posted August 27, 2025 Popular Post Posted August 27, 2025 Lived in Bratislava for 10 years. Cracking city, Vienna superb too. There was a great cigar shop in Brat opposite the Raddison in the centre. For Vienna round the back of Stephan’s dome another great source for Cubans, sorry can’t remember the names. Cigars are still not seen as a crime in these cities, grab a great coffee and light up. Enjoy. 5

Popular Post Mike Mecklenburg Posted August 27, 2025 Popular Post Posted August 27, 2025 The wife and I love the Viking River Cruises. We did the Paris & Heart of Normandy in 2022 and the Rhine Getaway (Amsterdam to Switzerland) in 2024. I like that you can smoke on the top deck. Great food, service, people, tours etc. And yes, I did smoke a Quai d'Orsay on the Quai d'Orsay. 10

Chas.Alpha Posted August 31, 2025 Posted August 31, 2025 Mike, take Dana on a horse drawn carriage ride thru Salzburg. You won’t regret it. Dana, don’t take Mike to the Augusteiner beer garden. You will regret it. 😇 3
Chas.Alpha Posted August 31, 2025 Posted August 31, 2025 Also, if you’re in Salzburg for more than a day, jump the tram up Der Untersburg. There’s a pub when you get to the top, I shite you not! 🍻
Chas.Alpha Posted August 31, 2025 Posted August 31, 2025 The garden/patio behind Fran’s Josef’s palace in Vienna used to be a great place to sit for a drink and a smoke. That was 25 years ago, however. Austrians are the friendliest people on Earth, ONCE YOU GET PAST THEIR GERMANIC SENSES OF HUMOUR!!! 🤚 1
madandana Posted September 12, 2025 Author Posted September 12, 2025 Thanks All for your feedback. We highly recommend this river cruise. Service, food, scenery was all amazing. The only cigar shop we ran across was Dom Cigar in Bratislava. I was napping on the ship so I missed it but Dana went and bought me an awesome Colibri lighter/V cut combo lighter. They put a couple tables at the top of the ship in the back for smokers so it was fun sitting up there after dinner each evening with the usual suspects. Feel free to hit me up if you are planning a trip like this and you have any questions. 3
