In a few hours I'm going to the LCDH Cancun. Anything in particular I should look to get that is unique to this store? Anything I should avoid? Obviously I've never been here. In fact, This is the first LCDH I will visit.

I heard it's a bit pricey in MX, but might luck out with finding some good aged boxes. My buddy was there a few months ago. Happy Hunting!

I came back from Playa del Carmen last month. The RyJ Churchills were priced $195USD for pack of 3 at Duty-Free. I'm wondering how much it would cost at Cancun's LCDH?

I believe they were the same.

But... what's the point of Duty-Free though? It's suppose to be cheaper. At least mezcal, which I was interested in, was cheaper at the airport comparing to Playa del Carmen stores.

There are duty-free "exclusives" too.

Good question. The Cancun LCDH is right on the hotel strip in the middle of an exclusively tourist area. Everything in that area is priced at a premium. Disappointing!

The experience can be memorable if you bring friends drink mojitos and (hopefully) pick a few hard to find enjoyable cigars. It's a great cigar lounge but yeah you won't have fun if your budget is $60 😂

I had a mojito and my wife had an old fashioned. We sat on the back patio and each smoked a small cigar. It was nice but pricey. I really think I am over CC at this point given their price point and need for age. I don't have the knowledge to walk into an LCDH and be able to pick out a single cigar that will taste good at its age. I smoked a ERdM Choix Supreme which performed well but tasted very meh. At $20+ it just isn't acceptable in my view when I can smoke a NC for less than half the price and enjoy it twice as much.🤷‍♂️

A Choix Supreme is a flavorless dog rocket compared to other Cubans. I traded my partial box away, they tasted like burning paper. 20 years ago, Mexico had some of the highest priced Cuban cigars. I can't imagine the prices now. And cigar smoking has apparently been clamped down since I been to Cancun. I was smoking cigars in the hotel resort theater they had there .They had a good Michael Jackson impersonator. Can't do that anymore! This was back in 2006. I do remember the woman sitting behind me did not appreciate my cigar at all.

I thought I am the only one disliking Choix Supreme for this very reason.

I sat on that back deck with a mojito and a smoke a few times looking out for crocs, but never saw any.

Every time I lit one from my box, I tried to be objective and unbiased. They are simply a crap, flavorless blend. They were bad at $176/box. I can't imagine any better at the current 5-600/box.

Lol are they that bad? I have never sought one out...smoked a box of those little panatelas once, name escapes me. Each too small.

Hey Joey, bummed to hear that honestly. I supposed we could have better prepared you by suggesting cheap and cheerful sticks IF they were even available...how was the inventory?? My go-to in those situations is a Monte 4 but I hear even those are $20+ these days.

My last LCDH visit was last year in Aruba and lucky for me it turned out pretty great but I went into the place with blinders on. I smoked an amazing Partagás Salamones and sipped Eminente rum while chatting up the polite Caribbean beauty that was working there. In the end, it was an outstanding experience but I think I dropped $350 on a few cigars and great conversation.

No worries. I didn't really plan in advance on going there or I would have prepared myself a bit better. I'm not sure it would have helped though. The CC I have in my inventory are all 5+ years and older and they are all smoking great except for my Monte 2s which has been a huge disappointment. My expectations are likely too high for any young CC to meet given their current price points.

Good point. Back in April I was in Germany for a few days and visited one of my favorite shops and their inventory was the weakest I'd seen EVER and what they did have (Monte 4 and BBF) were 2024 codes only - they have forever held their strict "minimum 5 years aging" policy and that clearly had gone out the window. They still charged me a premium for the two sticks I left with.

Times have changed but at least we can still source good stuff. 😉
