I was not aware that this was going to happen and totally missed it last night. (I live a couple hours south of you in Winona)

Thankfully they are saying there is another chance tonight so I am hopeful to get a good look.

Anyone else see them last night? These photos are from 30 minutes west off Minneapolis and in my backyard…

They can be spectacular. Have witnessed them in Yellowknife NWT and above the Arctic Circle on a remote canoe trip.

Very cool. My daughter in Madison sent a couple pics she took as well but they aren't nearly as vivid as yours farther north. I saw them when I lived in Colorado a long time ago and photos I took didn't do justice to seeing them live.

Cloudy and too far South. I remember seeing them so bright that I pulled over driving thru SLP on hwy. 7! 30 mins. W of Mpls? Are you in St. Boni?

was looking on the Instagram thing last night and quite a few winemaker friends in new zealand, Tasmania and even southern Victoria had posted photos of the southern aurora. entire sky an incredibly vibrant purple. utterly stunning. none of them had seen anything like it. if i had any idea how to transfer pics, i'd try but i'm sure you can find some.

Three nights ago in Montana. I got lucky and woke up around 02:45 and noticed lights outside my window. Normally I sleep through these late night events.
