El Presidente Posted January 18, 2024 Posted January 18, 2024 52 × 120 mm (4¾″) Petit Piramide Montecristo Petit Number 2 is only one of it's type. Partagas Maduro Number 2 in a 55 x 120 so roughly in the same wheelhouse. I actually quite like the Party Mad 2. Cracking blend if you like a dark chocolate Espresso drop. I hope to see them again soon. Size however? Montecristo Petit Number 2 I had a grudge against for many years. It really was only Janet on here who peaked my interest 5/6 years ago when she posted in support of them. I went away and had a good talk to myself, put my big boy pants on and gave them a fair suck of the savoy. I have been generally impressed ......but still can't come to terms with the size. Hamlet reckons in am a Climaphobe when it comes to cigars. He believes I have no compassion for the size of cojones it takes to smoke a cigar in cold weather. He is right ....and I don't want to find out....again. I have been in Toronto......lost.... at 3am.... in winter....collapsed in the snow from hypothermia only to be woken by a polar bear licking my face. I may have dreamt that last part. Anyway.....what do you think of the size/vitola? Say 52 x 120mm. Do the poll
ha_banos Posted January 18, 2024 Posted January 18, 2024 There's room for a quicker belicosos. Mananitas etc! Big piramides are a long smoke, for me - couple hours. There's need for an hour budget here. 3
Chibearsv Posted January 18, 2024 Posted January 18, 2024 Piramides are great for the golf course in my opinion. Mini piramides belong on the putt putt course maybe? 1

Not just reduced time in the cold, but also less chance of construction issues with change in temp / humidity. On this, subjectively at least, I find the larger gauge less susceptible to issues compared with say a petit corona or short panatela. 1
gormag38 Posted January 18, 2024 Posted January 18, 2024 I haven't had any experience with the Monte petite 2 or Party Mad 2. But what I voted yes simply for one reason; SC Prado. Was a great cigar and truly I enjoyed the format/smoking time. 2
Perla Posted January 18, 2024 Posted January 18, 2024 Confession from my side. I like the MC Petite No. 2 and I love the size. It's not the same like the P2, will never be. But for me its perfect for my smoking time I have on hand. Nino loved the P2 very much. Even his Job title was P2. I am only the Mini-me so the mini/Petite 2 is fine for me. I would love to see a FOH Petite 2. 3
HailState Posted January 18, 2024 Posted January 18, 2024 Haven’t smoked any yet, but I recently picked up some Mananitas for a cheaper quick smoke. I love the piramide/belicoso vitola, but don’t always have the 1.5-2 hours to commit to one.
SCgarman Posted January 18, 2024 Posted January 18, 2024 C'mon Rob, you openly mock the Monte petit #2 in your descriptor when they come up on 24:24. "For those who buy ponies". Your Aussie sarcasm about sums it up. The size is merely a gimmick, I agree.

I still do and would reach for a Belicoso 9 times out of 10. The same way I struggle with a Petit Robusto. However; I live in a climate that is subtropical and can smoke without climate pain 1
MagicalBikeRide Posted January 18, 2024 Posted January 18, 2024 Climate pain is real - I’ve seen the data!
Rhinoww Posted January 18, 2024 Posted January 18, 2024 I have a friend who has started to cut cigars in half due to time/cigar stash constraints. It’s an abomination to me, like this question. just saying. if you want short, grab a petit robusto. 1

The larger RG shorties just seem awkward.
Lt4-396 Posted January 18, 2024 Posted January 18, 2024 Has anyone else experienced little to no smoke output with torpedo shaped cigars, even with a firm to loose draw? Back to the question, I am not fond of the size and would never buy them or PM#2 or even the HdM Epi#3.
rondogg Posted January 19, 2024 Posted January 19, 2024 I am maybe biased it's another stick in the arsenal just take it out and smoke from time to time, if it's not enjoyable , leave it for your mates.
Duxnutz Posted January 19, 2024 Posted January 19, 2024 I voted “grow a pair” but then saw the Monte Petite #2 and realised the last couple of those I really enjoyed so🤷♀️. I think there’s a place for any size if done right. Smaller cigars need no BS and to get to the point nice and quick.

Throw out the concept of journey. Hit the sweetspot asap and keep it there to the nub. Remember the original NUB cigars. That was their complete marketing angle.
Rushman Posted January 19, 2024 Posted January 19, 2024 I voted against. I’ve tried a few and while I don’t mind the shape it’s def not in any normal rotation for me.

The NUB belicosos still have a place in my travel kit here and there when humidity at destination is high and time short or I’m looking for something with coffee. I favour a creamy Connecticut but I’d certainly replace that with a Monte Petit 2 profile in a heartbeat.
GaryK 54 Posted January 19, 2024 Posted January 19, 2024 I've smoked the Petit Monte no. 2 and enjoyed the flavour. However, I just can't get past the look and feel of a piramide at 120mm and 52 RG. When I need a short smoke, it's Party Shorts or HUHC. Those look a proper short cigar.
cigaraholic Posted January 19, 2024 Posted January 19, 2024 Any cigar with a tapered head is OK by me. Tapered heads concentrate the flavors and keep the smoke cool so you don’t get the road flair effect. I’ve noticed when I clip the head of a pyramid I leave myself a 42 rg opening, my favorite size🌈 I always wish every cigar I smoke was longer.
