Despite or perhaps due to being born in the country music capital of Aus (Tamworth), I've never been a great fan of any country music, really. My folks used to play a lot of John Williamson and Kenny Rogers on car trip holidays... perhaps that's also why

Just kidding... love Kenny. :cigar:

Anyhow, I must be getting older and more appreciative or receptive or something along those lines of words ending in ive, as I find myself wholly addicted to this album - Red Headed Stranger. Blows me away, particularly his vocals...

Thus, I'm off on a mid-life (or thereabouts) journey of discovery into Willie Nelson. Of course, the legend has quite the discography, so...

Who's a fan? Your favourite album? What album should I head to next? etc...

Any help is appreciated.

I’m a middling fan. Love some but not all of his music. He is def a legend. Saw him live maybe 4 years ago. He maybe sang 25% of the words but was a great time. I’m more into “new” country like the highway station on sat radio.

It's 2023 Steve.....   If you like having a little willie come on your ipod every now and then,  I say live and let live.      😂😂😂

Being a die hard rock and roll fan I have to mention that the Rolling Stones and the Grateful Dead recorded some of the greatest country music.

Skull and Roses comes to mind as well as any number of Stones songs.

How about this?

I'm a fan for sure.  He's an American treasure.  One of the singer/guitar player/composer/song writer in our nation's history.

Oops, I thought this thread was a request for country, not specifically more of Willie to listen to. A lot of the Highway Men stuff is good.  I’m not acquainted with the albums but the live stuff on Youtube can be terrific.

Not so much of a singer but the way he performs is what I love

People say that about Neil Young's singing also , I must disagree.

I don't like little willies coming on any of my devices, Stefan, but it sometimes has to be tolerated as part of the bachelor lifestyle. ;)

What troubles me more is "2023" and "iPod" in the same sentence. :D

Haha!..... Touché,   I have no Idea how the 'cool kids' 'get down' to their 'bad jams' these days.

As it happens, I was actually looking at my Ipod the other day, and thinking how much I loved it..........but not in that way!

I have to admit that last year I busted open an old ipod and replaced the wiring, battery, hold switch and HDD (with an SSD).  You end up with a 512GB ipod that runs for 10 hours on a charge.  More for fun than anything else, but all the parts are reproduced now and available on ebay (via Chinese sellers.)  There's also a large marked for refurbished ipods - check ebay again for listings.

Roll me up and smoke me when I die.

My coworker and I were just talking about this. Willie's had a long run but he's had to make a significant life decision.  No more tokie, tokie but he's all about the edibles now. At 90 years old lolol!

Willie Nelson is one of America's greatest song writers.  He wrote and recorded this one, but Patsy Cline's version is better known.
