El Presidente Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 How have they aged? Por Larranaga Encantos 2010 Dalias Putting out a Dalia at that time as a Regional in the quantities they did was considered in some quarters as "brave". From a retail perspective they sold consistently but then the market "twigged" that something special was at play, and the remainder were snapped up seemingly within a few months. Young, they were always good cigars if slightly closed in complexity. They had that Por Larranaga bloodline going for them however and many took a punt. How did they turn out? How have they aged? Can you remember what you paid for your box of Por Larranaga Encantos? What has been your experience in ageing Por Larranaga Encantos?
targa88 Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 Initially purchased as a follow on from the PL RE 2007 (robusto). First box was purchased in 2014 was even better than the RE 2007. Was expecting something along the lines of the PLPC - however so much better, more complex and subtle. Ended up purchasing 3 boxes over time in 2014 - back in those days they were less than $250 each.... IF we only knew....
Chibearsv Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 Only box I've ever had was purchased at an El Prez auction during the lockdown. I smoked through the whole box last year. So, no aging comparison from me, but they were great. Well balanced and complex, I couldn't keep my mitts off of them....worth it. 😁 1
BrightonCorgi Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 They were one of the less expensive Regionals offered for sale at the time. Have a few boxes, but haven't smoked one in ages. Maybe that'll be next!

anacostiakat Posted May 10, 2023 Posted May 10, 2023 $280.00 in March of 2011. Have to try to dig it out and have a look.
SparklePony Posted May 10, 2023 Posted May 10, 2023 I got mine back in '14 from our gracious host and let the sit until this year. I've never tasted so much honey in a cigar in my life. It's dessert in cigar form. Delicious, complex, and delightful. A truly great smoke that feels like it's from a bygone era.
Popular Post Sir Diggamus Posted May 11, 2023 Popular Post Posted May 11, 2023 I picked up a box of these on release because Dalias is one of my favorite sizes and PL is in my top three of marcas. Received July 2011. I want to say the going rate was $230 US at the time. Not quite sure. I thought at the time the Partagas 8-9-8 were going for $180 and I remember Encantos pricing was a bump over that. Or maybe it was $230 for the 8-9-8 and $280 for the Encantos? They have aged wonderfully over time. I wrote an IG review in July '14 and these were already strong then with PL caramel, floral notes, and lavender then. They blossomed over the next several years developing a nice bit of sweet and savory spices to accompany those other flavors. I was deceived a bit in the 2019/2020 time frame when I had one that seemed to have gone downhill from a flavor perspective and I thought they were over their peak. I had one sometime the next year and it DELIVERED, a flavor bomb. I decided to pull one out and do a review on the fly to see just where these are now Por Larranaga Encantos URG NOV10 This cigar feels a little full and tight, the dry draw feels obstructed but when I put flame to it I am able to get a good amount of smoke, although with some resistance. The opening starts off with some of that sweet and savory spice with a hint of caramel on the finish. The draw is tight but the cigar burns straight and doesn't have to be relit or touched up. The 2/3 introduces a ramp up in the caramel note adding hay, with the spices moving to the finish and being more sweet than savory now. About halfway in the caramel goes into overdrive with rich flavors on the front, middle, and finish. A creamy note mingles with it on the finish as well as a floral note. As I finish the 2/3 the caramel subsides a little and the cream and floral notes become dominant. Two hours in now and just getting to the last 1/3, I think the tightness has contributed to a slower burn. The last third continues with a sweet cream note that coats my palate and leaves a lingering sweetness that has some caramel mixed in. I have retroed almost the whole time because the flavors are so good, tons of creamy caramel on the retro now. Sips of rum accentuate the caramel notes. The sweet spice comes back to dominate the flavor profile for a bit with the cream and caramel still present. The cigar finishes with the sweet cream and caramel kind of dancing back and forth between with one being dominant then the other moving to the front. Still 3/4 of an inch left and this thing is still giving off fantastic flavors. I think this cigar still has legs for many more years. No signs in this example of being over the hill 17 1
ndhaon91 Posted May 18, 2023 Posted May 18, 2023 I smoked my box from 2010 slowly over about decade. I think they got better and better until maybe 2018 when I sensed they had begun to diminsh a bit, and then I finished the box off. 1
fokker4me Posted May 22, 2023 Posted May 22, 2023 It has certainly diminished, probably should begin to finish off the box before they are hot air. 1
Meklown Posted May 22, 2023 Posted May 22, 2023 Just had one (each) for our wedding anniversary. It was extremely elegant, woody and slightly herbal. No caramel to speak of but the cigar was balanced throughout. 4
Popular Post cigaraholic Posted May 22, 2023 Popular Post Posted May 22, 2023 Currently burning thru box #3647, absolutely fantastic cigars 🌈 7
Popular Post Chucko8 Posted May 28, 2023 Popular Post Posted May 28, 2023 From a URG Ene 11 box. Lots of floral, cream and cedar touches through the first half. The cream becomes sweeter in the 2nd half and finally last 3rd that sweetness cranks into caramelised overdrive. Still felt like there was gas left in the tank for some further aging. 6
thecrowder Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 I absolutely love the size of this cigar, otherwise, I guess I’m in the minority and really don’t care for them. I found them to be one dimensional when they first came out and mine have not really evolved over the years. A cigar that was never able to hold my attention, even though I really wanted them to. 2
