Would you rather have two current production boxes/cabs or just one of the same that is 20 years old?  I reckon they have similar value.

Definitely 2 current production boxes if I got the choice. One to smoke through, one to stash (and most likely also smoke through way before those 20 years)

Five to eight, four to seven.....somewhere in there suits me. The aged, over 15 year old, cigars I’ve smoked have been a crap shoot. Probably due to storage conditions. A ’85 HUSw comes to mind as a disappointment. A ’06 HUSW stored in a tube was epic. I don’t care that much any more. as long as the box is “on” I’ll smoke and enjoy the cigar. I have a few ’03 Cohibas left, they’ve been very good. ’16 RASS and MCDE have been rocking my boat as hard as anything I have so I don’t know why I’d purposely put them away to see if maybe they get better. Carpe diem.

My experience is definitely a "mixed bag". I have been around cigars long enough to have some that I acquired in '05 or '06 and then been able to smoke throughout the years.

Many of them grow richer or more nuanced with age, wearing down the rough edges and punchy flavors and becoming more refined, regal even.

Others that are one note or duds, stay one note or duds, time does nothing but mellow the harshness.

Some of my cigars had a defined high period, after 5-10 years of age, when become amazing. Beyond that time these cigars were still good, but nothing like they were in that sweet spot.

I had a few experiences with Clear Havanas and those were a different experience completely compared to other aged cigars I have tried.

All that said, I think for certain marcas and/or certain vintages, aging is well worth the wait or money. I prefer the wait to the money, mostly because taking the journey with cigars from the same box as they age is a really fun thing to do.

How are other members able to get so many old cigars that are well kept throughout their lifespan? I haven’t checked out the trading area, but would definitely be interested in purchasing a few sticks with some age on them from members to try them out. The oldest cigars I have had didn’t surpass the 10 year mark and hearing about stogies that are older than I am is quite intriguing! Any advice or guidance is greatly appreciated.

All Cuban cigar boxes are a mixed bag, so it's no surprise to me that the poll results show most experienced mixed results.  15 or 20 years time doesn't get rid of the mixed bag nature of a box of Cubans; they'll just be older 😁
