Cold draw: leather, tart fruits and a sweet mustiness

Opening 3rd: rich leather and sweet earthiness. Charred oak, like putting your head into a freshly charred whiskey barrel, before the whiskey goes in. Retrohale is charred red pepper. Solid medium in strength but nice full flavor intensity.

Middle 3rd: leather note stays nice and intense, earthiness begins to take a back seat to a stewed fruit. Sweetness takes a step back but is still there. Strength picks a just a touch. Red pepper on the reteohale is gone with the toasted oak remaining. There is a richness to the mouthfeel of the smoke.

Final 3rd: leather has been consistent throughout. I think this is what has made the mouth feel of the smoke so rich. The stewed fruit note has left and is replaced by a brown sugar/molasses rose water. Intensity has settled nicely to the medium range.

Final thoughts and score: while the flavors are nice and intense throughout, it just seems to be missing something to bring it all together. I think the toasted/charred note in the beginning came from the torch lighting I did. Kept a nice space between the foot and the end of the flame. I didn’t have anything to drink with this cigar, and maybe that’s what I was missing to tie everything together. 90/100
