MoeFOH Posted January 12, 2023 Posted January 12, 2023 Trust British Paints... Sure can! This Tagline sprung to mind randomly out of the dark depths of my memory when in conversation with my daughter the other day... she, of course, had no idea of the reference and I had to explain the ad campaign... and then I got to thinking how goddamn lazy that effort was... and my respect soared for the team responsible (see video below if you're not familiar with the brand/campaign - as I imagine most won't be) The scene around the brainstorming session must surely have gone something like this: ok, guys, we need to succinctly convey brand trust and quality... Um, how bout we just ask can you trust us, and then say, yeah, sure can. Brilliant! To the pub! (where obviously late in the session someone got the idea to get Rolf Harris involved - see video clip below) Ok, 'sure can' while tapping on a paint can is a level, I guess. But Jesus... Anyhow, give us your best examples of similar ad campaigns, old or new or anywhere in between, that have struck a chord and stayed with you... for better or worse.... FOH Merch prize for the post with the most engagements. Drawn Wednesday 2
