Does it also make you not smoke them?

I smoked one of the boxes fairly quick, sharing a couple with friends. As soon as the prices started to rise in late 2016/2017, I could no longer bring myself to smoke them. We're only talking around $50 a cigar this point, no cigars, however good, are worth that to me.
I still have one full box left, which has 10 years of age on it now. With the current prices there is no way I can justify smoking them - even though I would really love to enjoy them just for the cigars that they are. I've nick named them my 'end of world' cigars, if the shit really hits the fan I have an excuse to smoke them!  😁 but in reality they're destined for Bond Roberts.

The Habanos strategy is to lose 30% of you.  .....stop holding on

I am here also. Part of the joy of CCs is buying boxes. With NCs a unit was always a single. And the joy of shopping is buying multiple units. With CCs it used to be comparatively easy to justify buyi

Yeah this is the sign of the times. I've a few boxes, no behikes, but some are just now worth selling and buying some regular boxes. Coro being one. Would rather have 3 cabs of JL/RASS/D4.

We are already there as far as this guy is concerned, the occasional Minuto/PC/Short filler box will be picked up if it’s at a decent price but I won’t be a pawn in whatever game these guys are playing, quite frankly I couldn’t afford to even if I desired to.

They plan is to improve the quality--according to the article that is the reason for the price hikes.

Is there anybody on this or any other planet who believes that?

Of course they will improve quality, especially with all the experienced rollers fleeing Cuba.

It may be just me but I find it a not-so-pleasant experience smoking anything over 80$+. The same way I’d feel drinking a 1,000 dollar bottle of wine. For me it’s a waste. But plenty of people buy the 500$ Davidoffs so I’m apparently in the minority.

I'm sure the likes of Padron, Fuente, Rocky Patel and others will gladly take on all the rollers leaving Cuba. One man's loss is another's gain.

That is the route.

If I am going to make the biggest decision of my life, I am not going to do so to be paid $2 an hour as a roller in Nicaragua.

Unless I have family who can give me a start in Mexico etal......it is USA all the way baby :spotlight:

I would say that Rob and Hamlet could hire a few nudie rollers but I'm afraid the nudies would become plugged. Don't mess with something that's not broken.

The whole world knows the US southern border is wide open. If all 10 million Cubans on the island wanted to enter the US, easy peasy. Biden wants them all. Only people that will be left in Cuba are the government and the military. 😜

Perhaps there will be a resurgence of American rolled cigars that world class?  Would be awesome and would be incredibly well received domestically.

Yup, no one is selling everything they own at a chance to, maybe, do a little better. They're swinging for the fences.(literally and figuratively)

I have enough Cuban cigars for weekend smoke and special occasions. I would still buy more but just a few boxes of ten or a quarter box worth. Demand hopefully will come back to a degree as NC's are starting to make inroads in many parts of the world to hopefully spark competition. Hopefully will change the economic dynamic.

Ze Belgians are discounting quite heavily the smaller Cohibas already - couple hundred euros off. Just seen their promotion email. I totally expect the bigger Cohibas not to have a problem selling however. I also think these will still struggle...

The smaller ones were a struggle to sell at the best of times.

Smaller Cohiba and Trinidad (in general) are finished.
