Something rings a bell that Smithy is/was a bit of a chess nut... but I may have made that up. 🤔

Anyhow... Candidates 2022 begins today in Madrid for the right to take on Magnus in 2023 (if he plays???)

I haven’t played for decades. I was my elementary school champion though in the 4th grade 😂. I never studied the game and I watch the timed games in awe since my mind doesn’t move as fast anymore. I’m more crossword speed now.

I like to play but am no good. But I'm a yes for a competition of any sort so if there's an FOH tournament or games I'd play!

I love to play and play everyday with friends online. I’m no expert but I’m no rookie either. Somewhere in between. I don’t follow chess players or anything like that though I just play for fun.

My interest ebbs and flows. I’m a lousy player and nowhere near good enough to appreciate top level, but there are some really entertaining streamers that make watching tournaments fun and break down the (in)action in an approachable way.

btw.  I highly recommend the series on Netflix called ‘The Queens Gambit’.   A great show with chess as the backdrop.

Played a lot when younger and was pretty good. Then discovered women and weed were more a more gratifying outlet.
