NSXCIGAR Posted March 29, 2022 Posted March 29, 2022 My grandparents used to enjoy going to Jai Alai in Milford, CT in the 70s and 80s. I've never seen a match but the first Cuban Cigar I ever smoked was in the Jai Alai palace in Tijuana in 1996. They were having a practice and I walked in and sat down and watched and smoked my Punch Churchill. Wonderful memory. The arena closed down around 1999 although I see the building every week. They turned it into a dance club or something. It's a very cool game to watch. They wing those balls at 180 mph and those guys are amazingly acrobatic. 1

Jai Alai was quite big in New England in that era. I remember the TV ads. Had a lot of mafia ties/associations. After Jai Alai was gone, then it was dog racing. 1
KCCubano Posted March 29, 2022 Posted March 29, 2022 I recall it being big in Florida when we traveled down there in college on spring break. Of course weed and women were our main focus back in 80s! Havent heard much about it since then.
cigaraholic Posted March 29, 2022 Posted March 29, 2022 I remember going to pro matches in Tijuana when I was a kid...I can still hear that ball cracking off the wall. I believe you could bet on the players.
