Dwamon Posted February 5, 2022 Posted February 5, 2022 For the winter, I installed a tv in my garage and have a solid heater. I’ve found thriller movies to be the best accompaniment to 2-3 cigars and a quarter bottle bourbon/scotch. Saw all the Hitchcock films and now have seen French Connection and Chinatown. Please provide additional movies that I should see: ideally from 1970s and before. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1

Chibearsv Posted February 5, 2022 Posted February 5, 2022 Hard to beat John's list. In fact, there's a few there I haven't seen but will make a point. My 2 cents: Three Days of The Condor The Odessa File The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 Wait Until Dark No Way Out - 80s movie Dressed to Kill - 80s movie 3
MoeFOH Posted February 5, 2022 Posted February 5, 2022 Not pre-1970s but I'd recommend... Brian De Palma's Blow Out (1981) Takashi Miike's The Audition (1999) Michaele Haneke's Funny Games (2007) 3
Popular Post SpecialK Posted February 5, 2022 Popular Post Posted February 5, 2022 turning into a Taylor Sheridan fan... (Modern Western) ... bishop532 Posted February 5, 2022 Posted February 5, 2022 Lots of great movies so far! I’ll add: - Apocalypse Now (1979 - maybe not a thriller, but maybe so; either way an amazing movie) - The Boys from Brazil (1978) - The Eagle has Landed (1976 - Donald Sutherland as an Irish Nazi spy in Britain during WWII) - Throne of Blood (1957 - Macbeth in Japan by Kurasawa) - The Wicker Man (1973 - extremely creepy slow burn, a million times better than the recent version) - Deliverance (1972 really uncomfortable to watch but a great film) - Duel (1970 - Spielberg) A few after the 70s: - Cutter’s Way (1981 - noir) - Thief (1981 - Michael Mann’s first film, you can see some of Miami Vice and Heat in there) - Heat (1995 - best cops and robbers movie ever made IMO, first time De Niro and Pacino were on the screen together) - House of Games (1987 - classic noir from David Mamet) - The Professional (1992 - the opening scene can come off a bit corny, stick with it and you’ll see Gary Oldman’s best role) EDIT: Removed Chinatown; I missed it in your original post. 2

I haven't seen some on the list - I'll have to see what I can get my mitts on. Cheers
