Why people still risk their possessions, pets, arm hair and eyebrows by deep frying a Turkey this way is beyond me.  If you must deep fry, just get one of those butterball deep fryers and make sure it’s dry before putting in oil.  Otherwise, brine for 1-2 days and oven for 13min/lb and you will get crispy skin and juicy meat, and no fire hazards.

Put the turkey in the the kettle and add water until it just covers the turkey. Pull out the turkey and mark the water line.

That's how much oil you need to avoid an inferno!

But if you leave the turkey half frozen it will keep the temperature down. 😂

Also make sure your homeowners insurance is paid up. 😂

The holidays were job security for me prior to retiring from the fire service. Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, it didn't matter. I could guarantee a kitchen or garage fire, or a couple of them10398526_1060336941739_5616048_n.jpg.b83da8870bf4f5467973949246d2b2ad.jpg, as so many people vastly overestimated their cooking proficiency. I will never understand why to do not mandate cooking or kitchen safety in our schools.
