Ken Gargett Posted September 24, 2021 Posted September 24, 2021 i see that they are releasing the old No Nukes concert from 79 for the first time. i used to have an old illegal bootleg tape of it. fabulous stuff. no idea where it went. this is a pretty good article about it and also on the origins of the River. there are four short videos you can access on the page and they are all great. the last two the best, one with jackson browne and the final one. but what i would stress is for anyone who has not seen him live or does not understand the fuss, watch the final clip. only a few minuites long. it will give you an idea of the incredible energy bruce brought to his concerts. there has been and will never be anyone like him (yes, trolls may now come out with their water off a duck's back comments). this is great stuff! https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/bruce-springsteen-no-nukes-concert-movie-1220494/#recipient_hashed=6889d46629d1fa7eb2c5678693294b4be6f631aa1a9a58553c80d7ca763c9a8f 1 2

I endured a 3.5 hour concert for the sake of the wife. He is definitely a great performer, I knew the majority of the songs (thanks to constant radio play over the years. Not due to me consciously playing his records). I will commend him for performing 3.5 hours. Most acts don't go over 2 hours. For me though, it was 3.5 hours too long. A few years after the show, my wife read his biography and was somewhat disappointed to find he was somewhat of a jerk. But she still like his music. Oh well. 2
Chibearsv Posted September 24, 2021 Posted September 24, 2021 Had friends take me to a show in the early '80s and told me it would be the greatest concert I'd ever see. Hard to live up to that hype and it didn't for me. Did love seeing Clarence on the sax though. That dude could play. The rest of the band and the music....meh
Nino Posted September 24, 2021 Posted September 24, 2021 Enjoyed the last 2 videos, especially the one with Jackson - good stuff !

I less love their art if their image and the reality differs.
inter4alia Posted September 24, 2021 Posted September 24, 2021 Sounds like I'm not the only one who quit singing along every time they play a Springsteen song 😂 1

Kelly behaves, but he's the best R&B artist by a country mile. 1

I hate pop music but think Lady GaGa is insanely talented and thereby listenable/watchable. 1
