My brother and I used to do side gigs under his alter ego “Angry Redd Boyle.” A real crowd pleaser. ?
rcarlson Posted February 22, 2021 Posted February 22, 2021 Drinking isn't his crime. The pain inflicted on my ears is the crime, and it warrants the death penalty. 1 2

Whenever someone defends Springsteen by how hard he works, I always hear Clark Griswold's father-in-law in my head: "So does a dishwasher" ? 3

Might be the Bob Dylan of his generation. Lyrics are about as coherent. I mean maybe not quite as deep as Dylan, Dylan did win a Nobel prize.

mprach024 Posted February 22, 2021 Posted February 22, 2021 My brother loves Bruce. For the most we share of lot of similar views on music. I never understood the allure of the Boss, to me he’s in same category as Dave Matthew’s. He’s got a couple decent songs from ages ago, largely everything sounds similar to one of those 2 songs. Not meaning to offend anyone that’s just not my preference. 11 minutes ago, mprach024 said: My brother loves Bruce. For the most we share of lot of similar views on music. Oh! Sorry to have ruined the joke. I thought you disliked Dylan ? Now that we're off topic I see some similarities to Dylan in the lyrics of the album Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J.

I’m jumping on this one. Back in the late 70’s/early 80’s, a buddy of mine called me and asked if I wanted to go see Bruce and E street. I wasn’t too fond of his radio-ready music. (For reference, on my 16th birthday, I asked my dad if we could go see the Stan Kenton orchestra). The show was in St. Paul, Mn. the one were they filmed his music video where Courtney Cox jumped on stage and danced. Time reference for you. Anyways, with little or no expectation of enjoying myself, I tagged along. Amazing! Awesome! Best band EVER!!! They played for almost 4 and a half hours! The band seemed willing to go another 30 minutes, but we in the audience were too tired to keep shouting and clapping. Excellent show, one of the best I’ve ever seen. I left the arena thinking “He IS the Boss!!!” Of the music, I’m still not a huge fan. Just not my thing. As far as energy, stamina, excitement, as I said if it wasn’t the best live show I’ve ever seen, it is certainly in the top three. Now go ahead, Ken. Rip away. ? Please don’t call me”pal” this time... ? not sure i have ever called anyone 'pal'? that is a story i have heard so many times. my fave is a bloke who is now one of my editors. i met him driving trucks on africa. most on the truck were not bruce fans. i used to take a tape player, my bruce and a chair and sit off in the desert to listen to bruce under the stars. but he was telling me that he was taking a truck through india a year later and they were doing the 3rd world tours with sting and jackson browne and peter gabriel. and many more. they sent someone on ahead to delhi to get tickets for the group. turned up that morning (it was an all day concert) and managed to get up the front. about 150,000 indians jammed in behind them. amazing day. great bands all day. i think jackson browne the second last act and he finished around 1am. they were all knackered and apparently none were bruce fans so they said, let's not bother. let's just get out of here. turned around and there were still 150,000 indians jamming them in. no way out. so they said well bugger it. we'll stay for a bit. bruce finished well after dawn, around 6am. and every single one of them had turned into fanatical bruce fans, screaming for more long after he'd gone.

To the point, I am not a B & E street music fan, but the energy and joy that was apparent on stage was infectious. These guys are the hardest working musicians I have ever seen. Harder than I ever gave, anyway.
Popular Post El Presidente Posted February 23, 2021 Author Popular Post Posted February 23, 2021 I have had Bruce played to me for 12 years at every video cigar review. Water boarding would be preferable I hate Bruce 3 4
Chas.Alpha Posted February 23, 2021 Posted February 23, 2021 Don’t hate him, just not my cup. His live performances are epic...
