AWESOME FIND..... ??

You should come to Holland,   you will find enough to build a barn!!.

Quite a few 1900-1950s producers in holland would actually sell you the cigars in the mould, tied together with a decorative ribbon.

Where did they import their tobacco leaves from? Are there any more fresh rollers still doing it?

I think the dutch tobacco trade used to source a lot from areas like Sumatra, Brazil etc.

Companies like Dannemann are still going I think......but I've never been tempted.

Wow, very cool! Thanks for sharing.  One of my aunts runs estate sales.  I always tell her to be on the lookout for stuff like this or humidor cabinets, cigar memorabilia, etc.. No luck thus far though.

Very cool, did the seller know what it was?

No I told him it was an old cigar mold. I have no idea of value, was part of a couple odds and ends I gave him $20 for.

Aren't the wrappers applied after being removed from the mold.

I've no idea about the Dutch cigars mentioned, but you are correct in that typically bound cigars are placed in molds, and wrappers applied after.

You are correct, but after this process the cigar were place back in the mould (with bands on) and sold.  I'm not suggesting this was always done, it was more of a novelty.
