Popular Post Habana Mike Posted May 24, 2020 Popular Post Posted May 24, 2020 Monte A GAS JUN08 OK, looking for a boss cigar? This is the one! So I've had this 25 count box for a while now. Just turned the corner on these, went from 13 to 12 of 25 left now. Usually reserve them for New Year’s Eve. Figured no time like the present to smoke one while it’s still light out for a change. Light cedar, barn yard at cold. Fired it up at 6:45PM. Settling in for the journey. (Pardon the disjointed photos, made the notes, took the pictures and assembled later). Beautiful light chocolate wrapper on this, a little veiny but silky smooth and still retaining its oils. Clip it open a a perfect draw for me. Snug but not tight. Lit a charm, smooth rich smoke out of the gate. Light gray ash with minor striations. A bit creamy on the palate. Flavors quite subtle at the onset. Touch of cocoa, a little leather. Dram of Pactio Navio with it. My favorite new Cuban rum for the price. Smooth, rich, not too sweet or too hot. A Goldilocks of a rum to be sure. 15 minutes now about almost an inch in. Flavors picking up a little. Cedar from the box, light cocoa, still some leather. Hint of nougat now. Vanilla, wafer cookie. Flavors still quite subtle, wispy. Good smoke production. Burn and draw spot on. A very well rolled example of a challenging vitola for most torcedores. This a half hour in. An hour in and it approaches the length of a Prominentes. Creamy creamy mouthfeel like Marshmallow Fluff - that’s like Vegamite for children In the States…. Looks like it’s movie time with the wife. Tasting notes may drop off a bit. Expect we’ll still be going when the flick ends. It’s only 97 minutes with credits. Rich full smoke, hasn’t gone out once. Julieta No. 2. Movie ended at 9:45, still working on this. Inch or two left. Such a solid smoke throughout. Finishing with darker chocolate, leather and roast coffee. Easily 3.5 hours of pleasure. Smoke lasted until 10:15 - 3.5 hours of joy! If I stick to the New Year’s Eve ritual these would last until 2032. Doubt I’ll let them rest for just a yearly smoke the way they’re performing now! Yeah, this is the one I’d take into a lockdown for sure! 25
JohnS Posted May 24, 2020 Posted May 24, 2020 Well, what a journey that was Mike. Seriously, I felt like I was right there next you! ?
El Presidente Posted May 25, 2020 Posted May 25, 2020 Brilliant review Mike. One of my favourite codes in the A.
StogieSteve23 Posted May 25, 2020 Posted May 25, 2020 Love the review. This is on a list of ones I'd like to try (given enough time to smoke it lol). Seems like its a great NYE stick.
Puros Y Vino Posted May 25, 2020 Posted May 25, 2020 Excellent review of a cigar that IMO should get more respect. I missed out on buying a 25 count of these back in the day. These are a "journey" type smoke. Nothing boring about it (see Cuaba Diadema) 1
