Popular Post Habana Mike Posted May 11, 2020 Popular Post Posted May 11, 2020 OK, for this weekend I waited until the Mother's Day meal to throw down hard. Started the evening with a Negroni and a PLPC. For dinner we went with flash-fried lobster tails as a starter, one of Kelly's favorite things. They are fantastic with an organic honey and dijon sauce. Followed with hand-cut prime tenderloin filets and Bernaise sauce, Haricots Verts Amandine and pan roasted baby potatoes. Nice Napa Cab to accompany. Perfectly cooked and again fantastic! Kelly loved everything. After that I lit my final Punch Platino, the double corona RE for India from 2009, over 10 years on. I accompanied it with some Willet Pot Still Reserve Bourbon and a cube. It was a robust smoke when young and still holding on. A Punch that pulls no punches. Velvety smoke, rich and thick. Notes of coffee, plum, earth. Gets richer and earthier as it progresses. The Bourbon is pretty stout as well. Nice match. Continuing through the middle third chocolate notes on the palate and a slight pepperiness on the retrohale make an appearance. Draw and burn spot on. It is a bit tannic though smooth. Tried to land a box back in the day, only lucky enough to get a couple. Strength picking up as we move into the final third. Fruit, spice, earth and leather. This one covers all the bases aside from any noticeable sweetness. Only 1600 boxes made so not an easy find. Only India RE produced to date. Maybe if I find myself back in New Delhi or Mumbai I might get lucky as there's not a huge cigar culture on the subcontinent. Truly enjoying this cigar about an hour in with quite a bit to go. Glad I started early as it is a school night. Going to the stronger side with a couple of inches left. Dark earth and pepper predominating. Strong black coffee. The cigar has performed miraculously, burn line steady from start to finish. Finishes strong, earthy and 98% dark bitter chocolate. An easy 93/100. Still have the Tuxedo Truffle Napoleon to finish the evening. Maybe a touch of Port with that. Happy mother of our children and a well satiated chef to boot! 31 1

subiemech Posted May 14, 2020 Posted May 14, 2020 Some people live better than the dogs on that commercial that are living better than me. That’s what life is about...living. Gonna be honest, I’m jealous✌️ 1
Markspring1978 Posted May 14, 2020 Posted May 14, 2020 Great review Mike, all of it looks amazing. Box of these on BR for someone with extra coin. If there are still boxes in India for sale, I would be shocked, but it’s fun to think that they might still be on the shelf. 1
