Popular Post DaBoot Posted April 11, 2020 Popular Post Posted April 11, 2020 Big Cigar needs a Big bourbon. Been wanting to reach for one of these to see where they are at. cold draw- chocolate and baking spice. Nice pull on the draw 1st third- ??, baking spice, paprika, baking chocolate. Draw is good, burn needs help, a few relights, looking like a fire proof wrapper. The bourbon is strong and sweet, 2nd third- watching this jumping spider climb the wall last 10 min.big red spot on it’s back. I get up to get a pic, 2 hops down the wall and he’s gone in the grass.no transition on the cigar, it’s a D4 with chocolate and burn issues!! The bourbon is catching up with me last third- fire proof wrapper is taking over. Disappointed but I power thru it to finish the stick. Stayed above medium flavor and body throughout. A little sweetness comes thru on this third maybe caramel, still all chocolate and baking spices.but who knows now, this barrel proof bourbon has got a grip on me, haha. overall- 86. To many burn issues, but the flavor profile I enjoyed, when not having to relight 30 times. Definitely a stick that can handle a strong drink. 2 more years down before I revisit 14

Islandboy Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 Nice review! I really liked the first few from my box... the aroma was out of this world. But they now seem to be in a bit of a dumb period, with the burn issues you mentioned. Time to lay low for another year or so.
Connoisseur Kim Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 I also had fireproof and draw issues from it. Because of this, it's one of my dog rocket cigar list. Can't believe it's still tent peg and fireproof even though three years had passed. I'm getting skeptical about giving Series No. 1 a second chance after I saw this post (I'd rather get Genios or trusty Connie A than this Partagas EL)!
Bri Fi Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 I have the same issues with some E2s that are very dark in color. Sorry to hear that.
The Squiggler Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 Yikes! Sounds like these might require a serious dry-boxing. Nice review though! Thanks
Chucko8 Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 I agree with you 100% on this mate. Had 1 a few weeks back and thought I need not touch that box again for years. 1
RDB Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 Thanks for the helpful review. +1 here as a Partagas fan who thinks this cigar sucks. It’s like someone said ‘we need an E2 that doesn’t burn, or when it does tastes heavy and clumsy.” 1 1
Tstew75 Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 EL wrappers are a lot of times a huge facepalm. Drives me crazy, as these are supposed to be top-of-damn-foodchain cigars.
