cigcars Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 *Don't forget she was in that delightful 1963 "Jason and the Argonauts" as Hera, his protector. Just to mention: Tod Armstrong who played Jason died a suicide some years later. So did Nigel Green who played Hercules in that movie. 1

I don't even like James Bond, but I'm familiar with some of the classic Bond films, etc. WHO on earth is not familiar with Miss "Pussy Galore"??

Although every time I've seen Roger being interviewed he appears to be a lovely, charming, very endearing chap with a great sense of humor: I just don't like his roles he plays, i.e. The Saint, James Bond, etc. And speaking "Moore" (hee hee) of Miss Blackman: I'd read an interview with one of England's top stuntmen of the '60's, Frank Maher, who supervised stunt teams for several of Britain's top TV shows like The Saint, Secret Agent man (Dangerman in England), The Prisoner, etc. In those days they did everything live, i.e. there were no chances to back up and re-shoot if you made a mistake...you had to keep going with the scenes, regardless. He spoke of having to do a stunt with Honor Blackman in an early Avengers show and she had to punch him in this particular scene. Well, a mistake happened, and she connected! He was struck so hard he went back over two tables and his nose was shattered...there was blood everywhere! And they had to keep shooting the scene! When it was over, of course, she flew over to him to check if he was okay, and cuddled him in her arms. Frank Maher said that his thoughts were, "OHH! I'm being cuddled by Honor Blackman!" smiling and all. He said, "It was worth the blood!" 1 1

Always liked Niall MacGinnis, he is one of those 'Islanders" with a fantastic voice. He played in another cheesy favorite of mine, "Night of the Demon." Cheers! -R 1

I would have had NO use for that film if that were the case. Dana Andrews and director Jacques Turneur (however his name is spelled) were not happy with the demon thing that was shown chasing Niall and Peggy Cumming's uncle in the beginning. To me - that is, to my 8 year old mind (and still to my 63 year old mind!) I thought it was the coolest thing! I went "YEAH! YEAH!!" I would have preferred a compromise here. The billowing ball with of smoke with the chalkboard 'chirping' was a great effect. I would actually have preferred it was left to that, although there was certain satisfaction with the Karswell character being picked up, mauled and tossed as smoldering trash on the RR tracks...! -LOL The Karswell character really made that movie. In any event, the move stands as made, and one of my cult horror classics. I am with you in enjoying it the way it is. I liked the billowing ball of smoke come back to life in anther cult horror classic favorite, Michael Mann's "The Keep." Cheers! -R 1

Cheers! ray, a great book tops the great movie for me and fully agree about more time to read. there was a time when i would have been 100% on books better than movies but then i came to realise that a great many movies we love are based on books which no one has ever heard of. made me rethink the books are better concept. 1
