dominattorney Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 Gents, Got a 5x5 pateca of these a few years back. They needed a long time down before they didnt taste like cardboard and burned right, but they are coming into their own lately. Construction feels firm and cold aroma is light toasted tobacco. However flavors are all cream biscuit and spice with very light body. Burn needs to be touched up a few times because these things lived in cardboard for over a decade. All in all, fantastic cigar, though potentially past its prime. Final note on this is that it is unlike anything else in my humidor at present. Just creamy and delicious but not overly complex. 91 out of 100 2

May be a placebo effect, but I do think that cardboard negatively effects CCs over the long haul. dominattorney, sorry to hear you thought it lost its shine. The dearly departed DD was such a rock star. I really wish they'd resurrect the DD.

I think the cardboard negatively impacts the way the cigar stores and releases humidity, for sure. Not sure that it imparts negative flavors but itbaure effects construction and burn. I would also wager that the cogarsbin cardboard age faster.
El Hoze Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 I have a 2003 50 cab of Des Dieux that are spot on right now but a few boxes from the late 90s that are starting to taper off a bit. Been smoking through them diligently.

foursite12 Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 There seems to have been a wave of these cardboard packs of 2003 Des Dieux that hit the market maybe 4 years ago. I went there, too, and experienced the same things described by my fellow member of the bar. I thought they were done 18 months ago. Had one last week, however, and it had been given new life. Smoke 'em up if you got 'em. I suspect this is the last dance. 1
