HarveyBoulevard Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 My wife and I are planning a trip to Barcelona this September for our 15th wedding anniversary. I did a search and found a few good results. Just wanted to get some more recommendations and ideas. Anyone who lives thereabouts or has visited, I'd love to hear your thoughts on any of the following. Thanks for any input!! Hotels Restaurants Bars, Tapas or otherwise (No clubs...I'm a 90 year old in a 44 year old's body ) Things to See Things to Do I will be bringing a couple of cigars and buying a couple to smoke while there. I have a good handle on where to buy but I'd love to hear some good places to actually smoke. Most likely will be staying in Cuitat Vella or Eixample. Any and all recommendations are welcome and much appreciated. Jeff a.k.a. Harvey Boulevard
yadegari6 Posted January 6, 2020 Posted January 6, 2020 I stayed at el palace in Barcelona last summer, they have a beautiful smoking lounge in there. Also a great rooftop for cigars, highly recommend stopping there for cigars even if you don't stay there. 1
Piligrim Posted January 6, 2020 Posted January 6, 2020 I usually smoke outside being in Barcelona. almost any terrace is ok with that. 1
Vetteman Posted January 6, 2020 Posted January 6, 2020 I usually smoke outside being in Barcelona. almost any terrace is ok with that.This. I was there this past September and the weather was beautiful for smoking outside, which is my preference anyway.I enjoyed some outdoor areas like the Parc de la Cuitadella, Playa Barceloneta, and Mont Juic. I took the cable car to the top, but didn’t tour the castle (for an entrance fee) because I’ve been there before. I walked around the grounds and found a nice quiet bench to smoke on. I’m not a big “foodie” but I highly recommend Eixampeling Brunch Cafe and Bar. I had lunch there and the food was very good, dish very interesting, and reasonably priced. I don’t remember everything in this dish but it included shredded chicken, grilled pumpkin, fried cheese 2

Habana Mike Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 Beaches - Barceloneta for the touristy atmosphere, Mar Bella if you're looking for skin, Caldetes for a more quiet experience. Tourism is all about Gaudi. Some amazing architecture. Sagrada Familia. Parc Guell. Casa Batllo. On and on. Las Ramblas. Walk it. Stop in Gimeno's cigar shop along the way. Ask to go downstairs. Don't recall the name but there's a waterfront restaurant right by the Monument a Colom with the most amazing mix of fried little fish and accompaniments I've had anywhere. Have some Albariño wine with that. Enjoy but be careful. Had some friends mugged at the beachfront one night. 2
Cubadust Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 I'll copy'n'paste some stuff I wrote in an old thread.: Go to Gimeno and pick up some RE's, then go litteraly just across the street to La Boqueria (food market) and head to Bar Clemens (it's on the left side, way in the back) for lunch. Or just eat any of the courts in the back. And if you want to bring home some great wine there's a nice shop just 2 or 3 stalls away, to the right. Head down to Barceloneta (the beach) and stop at "1881 per Sagardi", a roof top bar / restaurant down in the harbor, smoke a cigar and check the yatchs. If you're hungry again head in to Barceloneta to "La Cova Fumada", a small hidden gem when it comes to tapas. You'll have no idea what they have on the menu so just let the guy behind the counter chose your order. Don't miss El Xampanyet, a small cava bar with some great food. And take a whole bottle, it's just 10 euros. https://www.restaurante-estimar.com/ up and coming kind of place. https://www.dospalillos.com/ is great, you can book a table or drop in at the bar section. I visit Barcelona once or twice a year and I always end up here. Always. Albert Adrià's places are always worth a visit, with Enigma beign the successor to El Bulli https://elbarri.com/en/ https://www.barjaica.com/en/ Down in Barceloneta http://surfhousebarcelona.com/ Also down in Barceloneta, just by the beach. Great for lunch and a beer. http://www.bardelpla.cat/ A "tourist" kind of place, as in lots of people find this through yelp and tripadvisor, but it's actually worth a visit and got a nice atmosphere. Need to book in advance, though. When it comes to food you can spend a lot or a little, it's up to you and how you value a food experience. And yeah, stay off the beach at night time. Barceloneta as a whole is cool, just don't wander off. 3

I second both of these suggestions, La Boqueria is a must-do and Estimar is a great spot. 1
madandana Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 Highly recommend a day trip (or spend a night) to Sitges. It’s about a 25 minute train ride south. Our favorite town, big enough to have all of the amenities but quiet enough to enjoy. 1
aircooled Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 I prefer hotels in the eixample area. Make sure your room has a balcony?. Ballers choice- The One Barcelona. Must try tapas bars- Bar Canete, Cerveceria Catalana. Reservation prior or be there on opening for lunch. For singles- Estanco Duaso, boxes-Andorra. Sunset drink- Cubadust's "1881 per Sagardi" is a fantastic place. 1
