More specifically they have paid the money for a unique Cohiba 50 Aniversario Humidor and its accompanying cigars after a visit to the high end spirits and cigar boutique shop and certified “Habanos Specialist” at Amsterdam Schiphol. The outlet is operated by Schiphol Airport Retail, a joint venture between Gebr Heinemann and the Royal Schiphol Group. According to Schiphol Airport Retailo, the humidor is a special edition commemorating the 50th anniversary of Cohiba; a unique and unrepeatable series of just 50 humidors with 50 Habanos each, all individually numbered. The vitola Cohiba 50 Aniversario (60 ring gauge x 178 mm length) is the first in the Habanos portfolio with a 60 ring gauge, especially designed for the 50th anniversary celebration. In this No.10 humidor, all 50 cigars are numbered from 451 to 500. This edition is presented in an exclusive luxury cabinet, lined in authentic Cuban tobacco leaves covered in 24-carat gold. The case is made of different precious woods, including Makassar ebony, sycamore and Guarea Cedrata or Scented Guarea. The humidor also includes a range of accessories inside designed for the occasion, including a travel humidor for five Habanos, a handmade leather cigar case and an ashtray made with the same marquetry technique as used on the exterior and finished in fine Armenian obsidian. The cabinet also contains a device that allows its owner to follow the temperature and humidity conditions in the humidor directly on their smartphone or tablet. “All these details make this cabinet humidor a real piece of art, memorable and unique, for the brand's most exclusive enthusiasts," enthuses Simon Asmus, managing director of Schiphol Airport Retail. "Our customers know they can rely on the Exquisite store as a destination for the discovery of the world’s best and rarest cigars. The sale of the Cohiba 50 Aniversario Humidor underlines this fact." Rüdiger Stelkens, director for purchasing, liquor, tobacco, confectionery and fine food at Gebr Heinemann, adds: “The humidor represents a perfect example of creating a powerful product that promotes innovation, luxury and distinctiveness in the travel retail environment.”
Puros Y Vino Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 WTH is that humidor in the second photo? That doesn't look right. ?
SenorPerfecto Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 Complete with florist’s foam humidification sponges ???????? 2
Wookie Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 Somebody paid a lot for tulip bulbs in Holland as well. History repeating itself? Those humidification devices look like the same ones from an Elie Bleu humidor I bought in 1996. 1
SenorPerfecto Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 "The cabinet also contains a device that allows its owner to follow the growth of mold in the humidor directly on their smartphone or tablet."
benfica_77 Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 Imagine what you could do with $370,000 euros worth of cigars from 24:24 you could open up your own B&M/Divan! The sticks individually cellophaned doesn't look right either...no thanks. 2
Fuzz Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 So they took the cigars out, wrapped in cello, and chucked them in a desktop humidor? Correction: I just looked back on an old FOH post from 2017, and the cigars do indeed come wrapped in cello. But why would you take the cigars out of the Cohiba humidor and chuck them in a desktop?

Drguano Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 Damn! I was just about to get on the plane to AMS and pick this up for a Secret Santa gift. Oh well, on to plan B, regifting some cheap cologne...

The included instruction sheet reads as follows: "Place Cohiba humidor on glass pedestal and adjust dedicated track lighting. If you do not have a glass pedestal and dedicated track lighting, chuck cigars in desktop humidor." 1
joey rockets Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 I frequented this duty free shop and have posted my exploits here in other posts. Imho, it was the finest duty free shop about 15 years ago but others stated it had gone downhill from those days? The shop I remember had more high end cigars than any store in Amsterdam and it looks like it continues.
Euripidespants Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 I wouldn’t spend a dollar on cohibas in cellophane. I can’t convince myself that’s right even though it has reportedly done and legit. Now if the cigars were wrapped in condom pizza cheese that’s a different story.

Cohiba shorts are wrapped in cello and set you back about 1-2 dollars apiece. Give them a try! Well worth every cent...
Hadroxity Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 There's a list higher than I can count to of cigars i'd spend that money on prior to these fifty large ring gauge monstrosities.
