but that idiot does not throw the elbow, wales are on the way to the airport

Yep. Agree with that. He's an absolute balloon. I think he has an average of three pens a match on his own. Only the crazy French management would be mental enough to keep this guy in the ranks. It will be interesting to see if his elbow will be deemed as assault, whilst I wouldn't wish it on any player..I wouldn't be surprised if that's the path it will go down

Ken watched both games at Cigar Social in Perth with Clive. What an amazing venue . Thanks to Rob for the membership. If you are ever over this  way , we will take you through . A world class venue .

take back everything i have said about the hobbit. amazing display by england. but for that horrible throw-in, the ABs don't even get on the board. itoje was enormous and i am a huge fan of underhill.

What a fantastic weekend of Rugby is up this weekend!   If Ireland beat the All Blacks, I will send a box of Punch Regionals for the FOH Irish lads to smoke.  If Australia beat England,

Okay I hope Japan win. That was a try all day long to SA on the stroke of half time

Yeah. Can't see that as a completed tackle.

What a pillock that French second row is, leading halfway through a quarter final....time to throw an elbow. Idiot.

Fair play to Wales though, they hung in there. South Africa is just a game too far for Japan but they can be extremely proud of what they have achieved. Next weekends semi finals look very interesting at the moment.

Yep, what needs to happen now is World rugby needs to grow a spine, stop giving preferencial opportunity to countries that don't need it. Get behind Fiji, Japan hell even Uraguay. Money, and tier one fixtures needs to be given to these aspiring nations, and half the take from ticket sales etc.

could this possibly be right?

just saw a report that jaco pypper, the ref in the wales french game who made some seriously controversial decisions, pretty much none of which went france's way, was photographed after the game with a bunch of welsh supporters mimicking the french player throwing the elbow? surely he could not be that stupid?

if true, he should be instantly dismissed from the rugby ref's panel permanently.

he must surely be sacked immediately?

I don't think he would have been in-line for a semi final anyway. Slap on the wrist

ben, that might mean they promote the worst ref in the world, angus gardner, to a semi. which would truly be the end of civilisation and sanity.

I'd say Wayne Barnes will get the Wales vs South Africa game. Nigel Owens for the England vs NZ game.

Gardener will probably run the line in one of those games.

so Ben, who gets the final? i know it depends on nations playing - assume nz v south a? they normally like to have the ref for the final rest over the semis. it is beyond thinking about that the muppet would get the final? the muppet could be jaco or gardner here.

Maybe they give it to Owens and let Roman Poite have a semi.

The main priority is getting that god awful NZ 4th official out of the 'eye in the sky' box.      Never heard so much garbage.

Incredibly stupid of Pypper, but I'm trying to imagine the reality of the scene.   It's probably him trying go about his business, and being cajoled my pissed up Welsh fans, that wouldn't leave him alone (some can be very annoying). Although he's smiling and looks like he's been on the beers with them all night, he's probably thinking "get me out of here, here's your photo......... now f-off".     No excuse however, as a ref he should be well practised in laying down the law with people being out of control.  This will cost him, and rightly so.........if anything it just illustrates that he has poor judgement.

Is Jerome Garces not in the top tier?  i've never had a problem with this reffing

possibly, but what possessed him to go into a pub full of the winning supporters in the first place? and you can be in a photo - bad enough - but not with the elbow. "sorry guys, no way can i do that". they are hardly likely to shoot him.

agree - poor judgement and it will cost him.

especially agree about that moronic kiwi. imagine him and gardner in the final. you'd be hard pressed to see any rugby. just those two morons pouncing about each trying to be more important than the other. they'd both expect to be the headline next day.

while on crap in rugby (mophead?), scrums. they laugh at league scrums and a good rugby scrum is a thing of beauty but we have about one good rugby scrum every three games. league had the brains to effectively do away with scrums. sure, led to lots of jokes but it also led to actual rugby league. instead of blokes flapping about resetting scrums, wasting time, we get play. there was one scrum in the aust v eng game that i timed as just under five minutes. i think it ended in a penalty. one last night in the last ten minutes went three plus i think. who the hell wants to watch that crap? instead of exciting attacking/defending in the last minutes of a playoff game, we have blokes falling down, doing it again. going nowhere. nothing happening.

also, and no idea how, they need to sort the final minutes. the winning side gets the ball and we have five minutes of one-out, one-step forward and repeat. boring as hell. no other game gets away with that at the end (well, basketball used to go into endless fouling and free shots, although a long time since i watched basketball so maybe they sorted it?).

The refs are being weighed down with to many technical options at scrum time. They should change it to. You can only penalise a team for A. Popping up when in retreat. B, a crooked feed and C, wheeling.   Although technically brilliant, forcing a prop to slip their bind, hinge, take a knee, early engagement. These particular skills are grey areas that refs always stuff up.   Instead of encouraging front rows to be negative, why not reward them for being positive?.   I think this would solve things overnight

Ben O'keefes Performance in the Japan Scotland game was the best refereeing I have seen in a decade.

yeah, i checked twice.

nice to hear. i did read he had a good one. but isn't he the guy who gave the 'low five' to the fijian player in the game against us, after a try? should not have got another game in the cup after that. what is with these idiots?

he is also the bloke who had one of the absolute worst games ever for nsw v crusaders. personally, anything that costs nsw is fine with me but he was appalling and blatant. nsw up 29 nil from memory. and then there was the elbow to the throat or head, in front of him, as a crusader scored a try. then he went on an absolute rampage through the nsw team with cards and penalties. happy to see nsw go down anyway but this guy has a shocker in him.

but given nz are odds to make the final, he might do one semi but no more.

Football also has this issue where the winning team keeps the ball in the opposing corner for several minutes at a time .. it's now simply widely acceptable as "clever game management", and results in immense frustration for the losing side's supporters, but of course if you're winning, who the hell cares!

Love the French getting apoplectic about Pypper......aparrantly they are 'sickened' and 'disgusted' but seemingly not bothered about the actual elbow to the jaw itself.

Before the match they also insisted they wouldn't of let Biggar play if he was a French player.. (due to head knocks)...This coming from a rugby nation who habitually return players back to the field of play, after failing HIA's...blurred vision.....vomiting etc...these guys need to wise up, and take a long look in the mirror.     The state of the French rugby league's human rights abuses, make China look like Disneyland
