Monte #3 fans?

Any loyalists to the Monte #3? What is it about this cigar that makes you a fan?

 

I bought a box bc I need to mix up vitolas in my humidors but seeing as it’s so close in size to the #4, should I have spent on a different cigar? It’s an inch or less longer than the 4, and size does matter, but are they any different??

I smoked one last night that just got better as it went. Sep 14 box if my memory is correct.

If you believe in Marcas the 1 2 3 4 and 5 should all be very similar in profile, just different sizes. The 5 is too small for me, but I stock and enjoy the rest.

Never had one, but I find the 5.5” length to be perfect for most of my needs. Long enough to draw out my time with slow puffs but also short enough that if I’m low on time and don’t nub, it’s not that much of a loss.

Wouldn't call myself a loyalist to the 3, but certainly to the Marca.  To take it one step further, I tend to lean towards siding with Rob's PSP grading and his description of the boxes up for sale on 24:24 as heavily as a particular Marca or vitola. 

Those boxes up yesterday had a passionate blessing and when you can get that with a product as varied from batch to batch as CC's, I think the difference in length becomes negligible.  

So in my mind, you got a box at a killer price and it's as close to a sure thing as possible - money well spent!

I stuck with a 6'er as I am still new and rarely do I buy boxes. That said, I've learned over the past few months that PSP/HQ is a must in a 6 pack in order to accurately assess a cigar and it's prospects for investment.  Investment solely meaning buying more than a few to smoke because I've got no patience for long term aging - yet.

I have a box of HQ 2016 from the host that are really good! A little less body than a 2 or 4 but really tasty. Cocoa, toasted tobacco and a little citrus. Excellent!

Corona and Montecristo...  What's not to like?  Quality can vary, but assuming it's nice box it's a fine cigar.  More of a casual smoke.

Great cigar if you have a good box. However, I prefer the No.1 based on size alone.

Any true connoisseur knows the Monte 3 and Monte 1 are legends. I would never turn one down. The world has just left Coronas and Lonsdales behind. 

FWIW, I much prefer the 3 to the 4.

Monte 3 is one of my favorites. Less commonly produced along with the 1. The 1, 3, and 4 have a very similar flavor profile for me but the 4 is less consistent (my theory is due to mass production of the the 4). The 1 and 3 seem to have more depth. With that being said I need another box of all of them.

sad but true. I had a RyJ Wide Churchill the other day that had a wide open draw and I thought how much easier it would be to handle if it were a corona.

Both #3 and #4 are very tasty and satisfying, I have seldom ever had a bad one in either vitola. They are a staple and I love them both. They are very similar in character and the size difference is negligible, just a matter of preference. At times I find the #3 tends to be a bit more rounded and refined than #4, which may be attributable to the size rather than blend.  As others noted, there are similarities across the line, with #2 being the most dissimilar to the rest.

  They're the star of the numbered line for me, far more consistent than the 4, buckets of class.

  Vanilla, coffee crème, milk chocolate, raisin, citrus, a perfect size. Possibly my all time favourite cigar. If you've never had one because of the popularity of the 4, or because the 4 has never blown you away then jump in. 

4+ years in (6 is the sweet spot) and a stunning change happens; the vanilla and raisin comes to the front massively and just consistently takes you to one of those cigar heaven moments
