Partagas Serie Du Connaisseur No 3 1997 (Nudies Comparison)

So I didn't initially manage to finish off the Nudies line comparison review series (to my last remaining party SDC No 3), as I needed to do some clean blood tests. 

But finally got round to it, so here we go

Partagas SDC No3   1997

Aroma at cold:   Musky old leather, rich oaky  tobacco 

Cold Draw: exotic middle eastern spices, R&J elements

1^st 3^rd Big woody start in the first few puffs, but more the box than the cigar I think.  So much depth in these cigars, exotic middle eastern spiciness, old antique furniture, rich leather. In smoking this you realise, this side to Partagas is completely dead in the current catalogue offering.   Incense sticks, gamey liver flavour, R&J elements of pomegranate molasses. 

2^nd 3^rd  Heavy serious clouds of rich tobacco.  Theres something so moody and grown up, about this blend.  No chocolate, Little Sweetness, no cuddliness to be found here,  It’s all rich dark, astringency.  How in the hell Rob and his team of merry men have copied this, I do not know.  It’s like black magic.  Thats two words that sum up this blending quite well. 

3^rd 3^rd   The buttery foie gras elements are there, and the gamey liver elements combine with popcorn. The heavy tannic oakiness is starting to build on the palate, still so much body and power here. not in nicotine power, but just heavy rich smoke.   In the background is that exotic R&J mustiness. one of the other reviews mentioned balsamic, with is sort of hand in hand with pomegranate molasses, is a deep rich tart flavour

Conclusion  Everything people make these discontinued SDC series out to be, utterly absorbing. A fantastic smoke that takes you on a journey. Rich, luxurious, exotic, challenging, rewarding, this list goes on. 

Score   96  So so good, So many things these days are labelled "Rare", "Special reserve" blah blah blah, but these are, they have the clout to back it up.  I want to cry that I can’t find these anymore………….but wait……… in Nudies we can!!.....in Rob we trust.

Is there an ETA for nudies? I’ve been anxiously waiting and hoping to get some, the PSdC was one of my favorites, and I really miss them.

I’m not on the boards much lately, life has thrown me some other important things to focus on, and I would hate to miss the opportunity when the nudies come up.

SdC3 is a great smoke. Charlottes give them a run for their money though.
