I much prefer the avant garde kraut rock of the early 70s, CAN, NEU!, Kraftwerk. Some great stuff to be heard. Tangerine dream is another one. The German music is born from cold war industrialism and not blues so its a totally different vibe. 1

I remember I bought a Tangerine Dream album since they were featured in Risky Business and I thought they sounded cool. I'll check them out again and the others you mentioned. It's amazing how much music I missed in the 70s for lots of reasons. It's cool to visit music from that decade since so much of it was great. Of course a ton of it was terrible too, but there was a LOT of music coming out at that time.

Been listening to a lot of Brian Eno. He was a trip. Another one is the lp In Search Of The Lost Chord by the Moody Blues. Bands had to be good back then. They had a lot of competition. 1
Li Bai Posted November 18 Posted November 18 I've been revisiting a lot of his work lately, true genius 👌 3
Ford2112 Posted November 18 Posted November 18 Such an interesting artist. I discovered him recently because of his influence on other artists. Beck gave a huge nod to him on Sea Change. 1

It's a shame his Bukowski-like character is getting him cancelled, well, kinda... 1

The following photos are from when I last saw him with Sleep… And if you’re going to mention Tangerine Dream, you would be remiss to leave out Klaus Schulze. Some days it’s Timewind, some days it’s Moondawn 🙂 1
Ford2112 Posted November 19 Posted November 19 @Hoosh I saw the Sleep show at the Regency Ballroom when they sold out two nights back to back after their reunion. Seen them 6 times, and Om, and High on Fire like 8. Matt Pike is pretty cool. Chatted with him a bit. Al is...Strange. 1

NYGuido Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago Got some early Beethoven going today, and one of my favorite recordings, to boot! I love Symphony No.1 because it remains firmly rooted in the Classical tradition while showing signs already of how Beethoven would tweak symphonic and sonata forms and, by the time he was done, completely reinvent how these pieces are written. Add in one of the greatest American musicians in history leading my hometown orchestra (and on a recording where my own bass teacher had the microphone directly in front of her music stand), and I just adore this so much. 3
