StogieSteve23 Posted June 8, 2020 Share Posted June 8, 2020 If anyone likes jam bands or funk/bluegrass type sounds, give Goose a listen. I grew up with 3 out of the 4 guys in Connecticut. The lead singer/guitarist (he absolutely shreds) was one of my best friends from a young age as our dads used to play softball together, I coached baseball for the keyboardist/backup singer and played hockey with the bassist. These guys are BLOWING UP on the music scene and have been compared to the next Phish (not sure if they'll ever get there but people compare them). Listening to one of their sets right now. Give them an ear if you like this kind of stuff. If you like "The Way It Is - Bruce Hornsby" then go to 1:08:00 and listen to their version. Takes me back to riding in his truck on the way to a construction site to go help him out for the day. A couple years ago I found this instrumental version by Miguel Montalban that I really enjoy. The day I go without listening to any kind of music is the day I die, literally and figuratively speaking. I love most types and always have, but the mood I'm in or activity I'm doing will dictate which tunes are on. They say pictures are worth 1000 words but I believe music is worth 1000 memories. A certain song, note or riff can take you back to a time and place in an instant. Some good, some bad, but all part of what makes each and every one of us unique in our own experiences. Takes me back growing up in SoCal during my formative years, we all wanted to be and look like Brian as 13 year olds. Rolled up sleeves with fake cig packs, vests, peg jeans, the whole works, loved the music and the whole scene. Post-punk, rockabilly, then new wave, good times in the early 80's. Thanks.
