El Presidente Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 Let us know your best cigar finds in Havana this November. Overall the pickings on special stock was thin. However the cab of Punch DC from 16 that West found was the find of the week.
Fuzz Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 Clive and West found 3 cabs of Punch DC. Didn't buy them, though.

Some Siglo VI in 25's but only a box or two. Noticed a few places selling singles but they wouldn't sell the box to members of our group even though they wanted to purchase all singles. That is a red flag and a half. 2
Fuzz Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 Nearly every box I checked had Sep/Oct 18 date codes. Oldest box I found was Fonseca (forget which one) from 2014. 1
mk05 Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 No Cohiba Reserva to be found, but many cigars were available.

BUP ABR 18 In the last day I found a box of Partagás 2017. The oldest one I bought is PSD5 ENE 16. I can say that 75% of the boxes I saw were 2018. 20% 2017. 5% 2016. 5
Puffaholic Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 2004 Hoyo du Depute (5X5s)... Regarding your comment about singles - is it safe to assume they're possible selling singles from "brother/sister/cousin that works at the factory?" I ask because I purchased a quarter box or more of the same singles and received the box at some while doing the same at others and was declined. 2

I think I was there when you bought them. I was talking to 2 guys from Canada and you were with another friend in the separate room? 3
Puffaholic Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 That would me... Happy you guys were in Canada cigar tax conversation ? 2
jeremiep89 Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 2010 Robusto Ts in 2015 at the Ocean El Patriarca resort cigar shop. They had 2 boxes, bought them both...only have 2 cigars left - smh Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What would be the reason they would not be willing to sell the box, even if purchased as singles? the first thing that crosses my mind is that they will refill the box with fake cigars. someone in a LCDH hotel in Havana last week told me that they only give the box if it is bought full otherwise they keep the box and destroy it. as matter of fact she showed me piles of boxes to be destroyed (or at least she told me they would destroy it). the reason given is that they dont want empty boxes in the trash in Havana. 2
Drguano Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 Found some Monte Tubos from 2014 and some Raphael Gonzales Petite Coronas from 2015 at Palacio de Artesano. Picked up some Monte Dumas at Conde Villanueva. I also got nice box of 2016 Upmann Connie A and a cracking 2017 box of 25 Magnum 50s from Club Habana. Where were the Upmann Petite Coronas, Rob? I may have to make a weekend trip back for them and as there was no Santiago rum at Duty Free...

Our group took most of them but they were restocked the next day. 2

I think @bayala snagged atleast 1. 1
ElJavi76 Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 I pulled in a box of 2014 Fonseca Cosacos. A petacas box of Espléndidos. A Punch DC box. Monte 1935 Dantes. I did buy 6 singles of those Siglo VIs at El Nacional. I whiffed because I didn't trust the place but at La Casa Del Caffè Santa Maria Square, I think...I saw 2 boxes of Qd'O 54 x 25, which was super rare. The place didn't inspire enough confidence for me to buy. We went to El Morro and visited the shop there and the manager told us they were legit since they provided some of that stock. I kicked myself. Clearly. I won't even tell you what those boxes were going for so that I don't make myself sicker. So cheap! 2

I had to give a bottle of rum to someone in the airport because my luggage was too heavy. At first I thought buying a new luggage but then I thought about the long road I would have to face to pay for an extra one to Copa in Havana. In the free shop I bought other 2 bottles and they travelled with me in the carry on.

Given that there is little choice in cigars over 2 years of age, just curious to know what folk were buying, other than customs, to smoke while in Cuba ? Would the humidity influence choices?

I just hope they don't xray the bag, and then charge me duty on the cigars inside!
Popular Post SigmundChurchill Posted November 21, 2018 Popular Post Posted November 21, 2018 Unfortunately I wasn’t there, but I met up with an old friend (not on the forum) who just got back from the festivities in Cuba, and he brought me a couple of gifts. He also brought me a hat that some guy was selling on the street to make enough money for a plane ticket back to Australia....? 9 2

No big deal, just send me a PM and I'll give you my address. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk 3
Habana Mike Posted November 21, 2018 Posted November 21, 2018 For me, the only box purchased was the Dumas Alex had set aside on the Saturday we met y'all there - along with a majority of my bring home customs. The Tryp did seem to have the broadest selection - most of the Cohibas available sans Esplendidos. Winstons, Q d'O and a few Collecion books in the display case for a relatively fair price were also there.
