El Presidente Posted July 18, 2018 Posted July 18, 2018 Now don't forget HSA's effort to lure the ladies. Romeo y Julieta Julieta. I was with a pair of lovely and well know habanos loving ladies at the release. This cigar was touted as made for the female market. With a grin I asked the ladies if they appreciated how thoughtful it was of HSA to release "female cigar" to the market. In unison they provided HSA with some unique storage recommendations for the "feminine" Julieta it is actually a very tasty cigar. 2
cigcars Posted July 21, 2018 Posted July 21, 2018 *sigh* The way societies keep thinking women's type of smokes always need to be mini, miniscule, teeny weeny size! In looking at the photos posted here (including that of our beloved member Lisa - Canadian Beaver) we ladies look no more out of place smoking toros, churchills, and other larger sizes which are what I prefer. Bravo and three cheers for those few times we get to catch some acknowledgement of us female cigar smokers...and even better if they would feature us smoking much larger sizes than Clint Eastwood Spaghetti western cheroots! 1 2

Whenever I'm able to visit my favorite cigar bar, invariably there are women there, having a smoke and a drink. Whether they are regular cigarists, or just there to give it a try is irrelevant (same holds true for men) - it never seems odd or out of place. So what's my point? None really - you, Lisa, et al are surely not odd or out of place here. 2 1
cfc1016 Posted July 21, 2018 Posted July 21, 2018 Thank Edward Bernays, nephew-by-marriage of Sigmund Freud; member of the original class of psychologists educated in Freudian psychoanalysis; father of psychological advertising and public relations. His success in making it publicly acceptable in the US for women to openly smoke, was the first ever propagandized psychological advertising campaign, and the advent of public relations, as we know it today. He’s the reason that when I say “8 hundred 5-8-8, 2-3 hundred...” anyone in the eastern US who’s ever watched television, can likely finish the line, and will have it stuck in their head for the rest of the week (you’re welcome). He’s the reason bacon and eggs are synonymous with breakfast. I strongly doubt that anyone at HSA has the shrewd psychomanipulation skills that Bernays did.

What I was emphasizing was not so much about acknowledgement of us women cigar smokers...it was about how so much of society thinks that all we can handle are small, small, SMALL cigars only! I LIKE lonsdale, pyramide, belicoso and toro cigar sizes. I had to learn to appreciate petite coronas which I did for the very first time in my cigar lovin' life only after joining this forum! Yeah - they have a little bit to offer, I'll admit. But for most of my preference...coronas are the smallest I'll satisfactorily deal with! 1

The wife has tried a few of mine, but she finds them quite strong......
