Popular Post JohnS Posted August 14 Popular Post Posted August 14 The weather has been somewhat ordinary in Sydney, Australia during the last few weeks. (Constant days of showers and rain.) This week I happened to get out-and-about on a glorious sunny day with blue skies, when I chanced upon this back fence gate in the suburbs. I simply had to take a photo of it. Thanks to whomever you are for the great street art! 😉 13
Li Bai Posted August 14 Posted August 14 The view from my parents' deck in Portugal yesterday. 40 km2 of pine trees gone in 20h but fortunately the wind blew in the right direction in the end 😅 Edit: as of tonight the burnt area is just north of 100km2. 1 1 14

Popular Post BrightonCorgi Posted August 14 Popular Post Posted August 14 Our peach tree is near ready to harvest. This is the first season we've had peaches! The tree looks near ready to collapse there are so many. If a peach hits the ground, it's 50/50 whether the rabbits will get to it. I saw a few peaches that look like some animal gave it a sample. They were not ripe and maybe that's why they didn't finish the peach? I plan to harvest next week. Not sure what we'll do with them all. 15

Popular Post LaoFan Posted August 25 Popular Post Posted August 25 China HQ Company party at a villa in Huizhou. My friends back home don't believe me when I show them this version of China... This slide was a menace. Half the company has bruised bodies. Burgers and pizza. Red Machine is the best pizza I've had in China (not a super high bar). '86 Especial. Special. The Glendronach 21 Parliament was phenomenal. Yes...smoking it in the bnb. No...nobody cared. 'Til the sunrise... gave the maids a big ol' tip. Followed it up the next day (hungover af) with shooting a video sponsored by Shenzhen government to show off how futuristic of a city it is becoming (drone delivered food right to downtown, driverless 'Uber', light show that had the building lit up like an IMAX). Videos never upload great for me on here, but worth a look if you're curious: 97cdca7599c1c4f245df772d22cf0f3b.mp4 36b806f12a0176897095f7701833182d.mp4 17 1

It's a "reachable peach tree" that does not grow really tall. We've just about used, gave away, or processed all our peaches. About 20 of them have rotted at some point to which I throw in a bushy area I know ground hogs are living in a field across the street from our house. Every person who's ate one really loved them. Big hit across the board. We dehydrated a bunch, froze a bunch, canned about 10 pounds, and that's that. I have maybe 3 lbs in fridge that I use in smoothies until I start using the frozen ones. Not sure what I'll do with the dehydrated ones. Tastes like the childhood fruit leather. 15

My wife was driving and the last car hit out of three. A Prius hit a Tesla which hit her Volvo. Both doors on the driver's side need replacing. Rear quarter panel also needs work. The two other cars are expected to be totaled. The Prius driver resides in a wealthy town called Sudbury. Somehow the driver only had 10K policy! For whatever reason, my wife did not get rental reimbursement on her insurance. Our only alternative was to rent a car for 3-5 weeks which would cost 1,000's and sue the Prius owner. I thought that maybe we should just buy an interim car until the Volvo is ready and go from there. We purchased an '06 MX-5 Miata with a paddle shifting automatic. The first year for that transmission. Shifts pretty quick and goes into first on a slow-stop really well. Handling is a hoot. Turn in is quick and engine likes to rev out. Better handling than the S2000 I owned 20 years ago, but not as powerful an engine. Brakes are terrific. A friend said he'll buy it off of us for what we paid. Buying a car was the last thing I wanted to do. She's learning the paddles well. I don't think I'll spring left foot braking on her. The Miata is well suited for it. Both pedals are more centered for it than on other paddle cars I've driven. I forgot to post a picture of the 10K in damage to the Volvo: 3
