KFBR392 Posted March 10, 2018 Posted March 10, 2018 I do it almost every time. Maybe one out of 20 or 30 puffs I won't. Do get some different flavors, I just never find them to be as good or as noticeable if I don't retrohale. I also worry this leads to an increased chance of some sort of sinus or throat cancer, not that it stops me though! What frequency does everybody else retrohale at? Does it depend on the cigar?
Sudzdaddy Posted March 10, 2018 Posted March 10, 2018 Two-three times per stick, baselining as the smoke progresses.
HarveyBoulevard Posted March 10, 2018 Posted March 10, 2018 To at least some degree on every puff. I'm not even sure I know how to smoke a cigar and only hold it in my mouth. It seems unnatural to me.
PrairieSmoke Posted March 10, 2018 Posted March 10, 2018 Only a couple times in an entire cigar, just to see if I’m missing anything. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
thedame007 Posted March 10, 2018 Posted March 10, 2018 I tend to retrohale the last part of every puff, if that makes sense? I let the smoke rest in my mouth a moment, and then I’ll let 1/3 out of my mouth. Repeat. Then 3/3 is retrohaled. Gives my palate and olfactory better chance of picking flavours up!
MooseAMuffin Posted March 11, 2018 Posted March 11, 2018 I do it every once in a while. Probably 1 out of every 15 puffs. Still burns the nose often, which keeps me from doing it to much.
dealsrme Posted March 11, 2018 Posted March 11, 2018 Every two puffs or so. Less if there’s not much to the stick. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
nvrp813 Posted March 11, 2018 Posted March 11, 2018 As long as it doesn’t burn, every puff. If it burns than I’ll try every fourth or fifth puff to see if the burn is still there.
Hookmaker Posted March 11, 2018 Posted March 11, 2018 1 in 4-5 puffs for me, except with Padróns - they’re pretty strong and peppery

I also do what are you and others have said which is retro to a different degree on different puffs.
HoyoFan Posted March 11, 2018 Posted March 11, 2018 With CCs I do it on almost every puff. With NCs I have to really watch the pepper, especially the Nicaraguans. I’ll only do a few times with those 1

In fact, I found it quite odd when I lit up the CoLa from the Christmas sampler, that the taste and aroma were downright heavenly, but my reflex retrohales absolutely ruined the vibe with a nasty taste. Had to force myself not to the rest of the stick.
watsup261 Posted March 11, 2018 Posted March 11, 2018 I retrohale the majority of the time. I am also concerned about the effects it has but it adds so much flavor.

tigger Posted March 11, 2018 Posted March 11, 2018 A few times per smoke...usually near the beginning, and then as I notice flavor changes taking place.
dicko Posted March 12, 2018 Posted March 12, 2018 Every other puff I'd saySent from my SM-N910G using Tapatalk
Foulhook Posted March 12, 2018 Posted March 12, 2018 Just about every draw for me except I prefer a kind of small French inhale at the end of the draw. Just a personal preference
Pharmacovigilant Posted March 12, 2018 Posted March 12, 2018 I’ll retro about every other puff, often varying the amount of smoke I put through the nose depending on how hard I’m getting punched. Another thing I do occasionally is retain the drawn smoke in my mouth while breathing in and out through the nose (none of the smoke gets inhaled) before finally expelling the puffed smoke. Not sure where that came from, and I don’t even realize I do it.
