ayepatz Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 Just bought a bottle of Bulmer’s cider in Norway for 99 Krone. That’s £9.16 in British, $12.72 in American, and $16.28 in Australian. Wow. Is this the most expensive country in which to drink? Or do some of you poor souls have it worse than that? 1
99call Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 99 Krone OOOOfff, was there no local ale? London is the most expensive..........even if it's not the most expensive!! by this, I mean that I add a levy of £20 (per Pint) for every drink I consume, whilst having to listen to Londoners talk, utter bollocks about nothing.
Kratos Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 Cheapest beer (0,5 liters)you get in a bar in Norway is at least 80kr. Belive me, I live there.
gweilgi Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 Definitely a hugely expensive country to have a drink! Norway is so expensive that locals go on weekend cruises to other Scandinavian countries just to tie one on.... Nor do restaurants seem to do BYO! If you cannot do without, the least expensive option is to find one of the state-run off-licences and buy your hooch there. At least that cuts out the middle-man.
David88 Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 In Dubai I was paying 56 AED for a pint. Which is Just under £11. There were happy hours though and all you can drink brunches...
Hookmaker Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 Ha, as a traveling fisherman in Norway for 20 years I can tell you one thing about Norway : bring your own stuff. EVERYTHING! They sell quarter cucumbers, who else does that? A big Mac is 25 USD! Booze is terribly expensive and you can drive miles on end to get it, but the Norwegians don’t care, the majority live on home squeezed potato liquid . Only thing I believe is cheaper in Norway than in the UK is cigars 1 1
mozart23 Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 If you want expensive, go to Bali. Down where we were staying, a bottle of Tanqueray ran something like almost $100 USD. Other parts of the island were cheaper, but definitely not down in the Southern part!
LandCruiser Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 In my guesstimation, Iceland was more expensive to drink.... but it sure is close. I remember my shock and horror when I bought a 12 pack of Carlsberg in Oslo.... $45 usd Wasnt going to let that ruin my NYE though.... girls there are more than hot enough to warrant the absorbent alcohol prices

I was paying similar in Abu Dhabi and Singapore can get up there in price; at least there is happy hours and places to smoke in both locales!~
