What could possibly go wrong. I mean, it might solve your neck problems? -_-

... I hope you have black towels....or red?

I've been told by a couple barbers learning to shave with a straight razor on yourself is pretty difficult, and to be prepared to filet your face a few times.  No thanks.

To be honest, I haven't been active in that hobby for a while. Most of the puctured razors have been sold. That being said, I could buy several aristocrats if I sold all my razors and stones...

I'm safety razor shaver, have been for quite a number of years. I haven't jumped into the straight razor pool because I'm self aware, and realize there's no way I'm going to put in the effort to maintain the blade like I'm supposed to.

I can say prior to moving into classic shaving I could only shave 2 - 3 times a week at most because my skin would be very red and inflamed from the process. Since moving over I get far more compliments from women on my 'cologne'. What they're actually smelling is just shaving soap.

I love a straight razor shave, but I'm afraid of turning my bathroom into the car in Pulp Fiction after Samuel L accidently shoots that guy in the head.

This is the rockstar of disposable straight razors. There is a plastic handle version which is much cheaper around $100. It is much more forgiving and much less work then a regular straight razor and the disposable blades are sharper then you could ever get an actual fixed blade.

As per safety concerns I taught myself to use a straight razor about 6 months ago. I thought the ritual of it would help me focus in the morning, it certainly has done that. I cut myself a bit the first couple of times I shaved but nothing serious. Its also a much more comfortable shave then any disposable I have ever used. If you decide to go this route get good shaving soap and a good shaving brush. A good lather is essential to a good wet shave.

Same situation as you, I went into straight razors and lost the required amount of blood to learn it, but I took a step back and grabbed a safety razor as step between and never looked back. No irritation from the lovely shaving creams and razor blades, but a lot quicker and easier than the straight razor.

I cringed. Thought this video was a set up for a kneck cutting, even though I was certain it wasn’t.  Therefore, I may have to tap out.
