Popular Post Ken Gargett Posted February 18, 2018 Popular Post Posted February 18, 2018 for those with dirty minds, go elsewhere! was talking to a mate on the blower last evening around dusk. was on the balcony. mentioned that i thought there might be a platypus in the creek. but it was very dim and i could only see ripples. and there are all sorts of things there. so i didn't really think that. i have only ever seen one in the creek once, in floodwaters, when it was obviously in distress and being rushed along. just saw it ever so briefly. this morning, get up and spend half an hour watching a platypus having a whale of a time. diving and chasing food, swimming on the surface. just so so so cool. meanwhile, the local wildlife just took a perch and watched. then the resident ducks came along. neither the ducks nor the platypus were very happy about the others. 19

El Presidente Posted February 18, 2018 Posted February 18, 2018 I was being complimentary! A platypus will only reside in pristine natural wilderness. Likely it can no longer differentiate your house from the native environment. More than likely it thinks you are a Yowie (Aussie Yeti for those outside Oz). 1

Ken Gargett Posted February 18, 2018 Author Posted February 18, 2018 by the way, for our offshore members who might not be aware and suddenly think we have cute furry critters here, the platypus is one of the very few venomous mammals.
westg Posted February 18, 2018 Posted February 18, 2018 Amazing animals...very lucky...thanks for sharing Ken
99call Posted February 18, 2018 Posted February 18, 2018 Tracked a Platypus down in the wild in Geeveston Tasmania, after searching the whole country and standing beside many a 'hot spot' in the rain. The missus and me were finally about to give up on our last chance at a sighting, then one appeared having a tussle with an eel. No photos it lasted all of two seconds, but great to see one Sadly the only devils we saw were either mushed up on the side of the road, or snuggled up in captivity. Echidna's were a personal favourite, and it was great to see one depicted in Greg Duncans "The Wall' for my money easily the best piece of art in Australia. Really missing the place now. Hats off Aussie, you're pretty bloody amazing. 1
tuff Posted February 18, 2018 Posted February 18, 2018 What an amazing place to live! Can't imagine being able to see wildlife like that off my balcony. Water really does look pristine. Assuming that's a little water dragon on limb.
