may i offer congrats to the newly engaged! someone has to, even if, i for one, will not be following the forthcoming festivities over the coming months - trust me, it will be endless - no doubt many will.

i think everyone should put out of their minds the last time an american divorcee married into the world's most dysfunctional family, and just how well that went for everyone.

it is entirely possible that this gift to us all will be the subject of further musings in Kenfessions (i am assuming that this is not part of the long list of items taboo?) but one has to marvel at how life does not imitate art but so often exceeds it.

apparently mde sparkle's previous hubby, a tv executive fortunately not named harvey (i think), has been working on a new project. as yet untitled, the new project focuses on a lead character who sees his former wife marry into the brit royal family and he is forced to share custody with the prince. granted that apparently mde sparkle and the ex don't have kids but you really could not make it up.

thank you, linesmen.

What do you think are the psychological effects of knowing your 5 year old nephew is going to be the next king before you?

Cosgrove is probably the only one who can’t handle banter about our Queen.

Anyway. Just to be safe. You’re banned.

Yeah mate. You seem at home when you’re banned

Maybe get the australia post guy to do the typing when he next does a delivery? Don’t think you can type fast enough to get in before the “Britney”.

I suspect a conspiracy here to insinuate a future offspring of the lovely couple into the U S political system.

Yep. It's all a plot to take back the "Colonies".

What are the odds that Prince Harry actually has any royal blood in his veins?

As for the nephew being in front of him in line for the kingship, I would be happy to just be the prince. All the benifits none of the troubles.

But I agree; congrats to them. I’m sure it will be one hell of a celebration for England and much of the rest of the world.

It was just tabloid goss,if you look at Harry he has the exact same piercing eyes as Prince Phil, doesn't look at all like his dad but his upper face is almost a carbon copy of his grandfather

I'm surprised the poor lad has anything to do with the press after what they've put him and his brother through, I hope he gets a bit of happiness with his other half.

Why does he not become a US citizen instead. Dual citizen.

Because his "duties" as a royal would interfere with his US permanent residency requirements. And besides, why become a citizen of a country that will soon be returning back to the Crown? :P

Having just spent the last month in Australia (and loved every second) I do find it endlessly confusing that both Australians and Americans seem to love the Royal Family.

As a child, my Mother (a proud Welsh woman) was forcibly removed by Prince Charles security staff from sitting in a slate chair, that had been specially made for him in some sort sudo Druid-style ceremony in Caernarfon Castle.  When ousted, she had responded, "I've got, more effing right to sit in it than he does".

Now I, and everyone that I know, thinks the Royal family is a disgusting cancer that exists within the British way of life. I understand they bring in more money via tourism, than they spend, but still they stand for everything thats wrong with the British model of life. Prince Charles avoiding tax on making posh biscuits under the 'Dutchy of Cornwall' estate............really!? is that necessary, does he need to shaft the British people, just that little bit more?

Anyway to come back on point. I get that all the outfits and the ceremony must be fun for Country's that don't have it, but I always expect Americans and Australians to react in the same manner I and the North of England do, i.e. seeing them as some awful, stunted, gang of inbreds, that make a mockery of social mobility. But you seem to love them........can anyone explain, I don't get it?

the queen does seem to get plenty of respect as she does seem to act with dignity.

i think you are slightly off in your assessment. we love the fact that you have the royal family. different to suggesting we love the royal family.

got to meet charles many years ago and have a yack with him for about thirty minutes (with a couple of other friends, not solo). came across as a terrific bloke. another mate knows him very well. always speaks very highly.

I will, follow it up by saying, I would hate to be born into a situation, of such attention and obligation to be expected to live a very 'worthy' and regimented life. I don't envy their responsibilities or position.

It's not a criticism of them as people in particular, (although their tax dodging does boil my piss). It's that a system still exists today where, a largely feckless family are born into riches and given a 'free pass' from the real world, just because of their bloodline.

Now, as stated before, their world could arguably be considered to be worse, than the real word, but the idea of a Monarchy, in a world that also contains child poverty, just seems to be in extremely poor taste.

I guess I was just a little weirded out, then watching the news in Tazzie and seeing the level of excitement with regards to the forth coming wedding, I think the notion that anyone would watch the coverage with finger sandwiches and champers on tap etc. is just a little alien to us in the UK

That said, there was a funny instance where by may mate (when I was living in London) contacted me and asked "do you want to come and watch William and Kate's wedding appearance on the balcony. My response was one of confusion as he's also a Northerner. "Errrr!!!! definitely not" I replied. Anyway he kept on asking, to the point I eventually asked. "what on earth it going on with you? why are you interested?".  He basically said, "listen there's going to be a flyover of four Lancaster bombers and and accompanying Spitfires" ......I said "Okay, I get it, lets stand at Charring Cross, out of the crowds, and enjoy the planes".  It was bloody brilliant, the size and drone of the Lancaster's over London, was something really quite special.

Don't forget, you guys plagued us with "Geordie Shore".

I'm glad I have no idea what this is.   I'm guessing it's a contrived show featuring orange girls?

And orange guys too. For the life of me, I don't know how British people can be so obsessed with reality TV. Then again, it is becoming a global epidemic.
