Please tell me anything about it, (eg is it fake? what does the second ring on the cigar mean?)

This isn't an official HSA release. If they are genuine Edmundos, from the second bands, it would be a special commission from the LCDH located at the old Partagas Factory. LCDHs are known to have their own packaging commissioned such as the Edmundo and Cohiba jars, but this is a bit more elaborate than the usual custom packaging format. And I've never seen a special commission for a LCDH located within Cuba.

I'd want to know the provenance and origin of this box before I would even consider accepting these as genuine. I would want a factura from the LCDH with a photo. The second bands are quite elaborate and are certainly not run-of-the-mill fakes. Some time and effort went into these. They are either very fake or very real. The cigars could also be real Edmundos, but if I was trying to get big bucks for this "special" box, I would use real Edmundos as well.

Picture of the Partagas Factory band threw me for loop.  My guess would have been what NSXCigar said....special commission from that factory by LCdH.  Those bands are nicely made as is the box the cigars are in.  In the background it looks like there is a velvet sleeve for the box too.  That's a lot of work for fakes.   Let us know what you find out....

These bands are different from the Partagas anniversary bands which also featured a photo image of the Partagas factory. For what it's worth (probably very little), those bands have definitely appeared on some fakes in addition to the actual anniversary release cigars.

I agree that the packaging is unusual.  However, if those sticks are fake then someone went to a lot of trouble and did an excellent job.

I have cigars from last year's Encuentros with that same second band.

Legit I'd say. Amir would probably know the backstory if anyone.

Partagas  have had a long reputation for being....... "entrepreneurial"  ;)

I have seen several special packagings sold at the Partagas factory shop, and only there. Initiatives of the famous manager of the time (can't remember his name)…

Wasn't it Abel, until his troubles?

Yep...Abel was a great guy.  He gave me some Partagas torpedoes with this second band on.  He said they were special to the Partagas factory.  ...generally reserved for him to give out as he pleases, or to VIP's.  ...still have a bunch left.  I should try find them sometime and post up a picture.

My first trip to Cuba quite a few years back I was doing all my buying at Partagas and found out later in the week it was Abel, the manager that had been helping me out. You could not meet a nicer person and enjoyed my visits with him in subsequent years. He now runs a small bar just off the Malacon.

Funny thing is that he still sells La China'a customs at his restaurant... and some really nice vintage cigars.

Really nice guy!
