BellevilleMXZ Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 Love those nights.....Steak on the BBQ, some good music from the playlist, and dig through my small humidor collection
SloppyJ Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 Just had an entire primal week like this when the wife was out of town. Ribeye or Strip steak every night (Some reverse seared, some grilled) Double Wide IPA or some Sierra Nevada Pale Ale Basketball all night PC games for ancillary entertainment cause it's too cold to go out on the lake Smoked a few Princpes that week until I got strep. Apparently I can't do it like I used to. 2

awkwardPause Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 Ah yes. What my brother and I referred to as a "life combo". Meaning allotted time for complete and utter excess or something as simple/subtle as spending a few hours with a good friend discussing literally anything with a smoke and drink(s) in hand. Maybe a bonfire as well. Oh how few times the stars have aligned but what memories we've made when they do!Might go a little something like this...Jeans, tee, hoody. Doesn't matter. Snuggies for all I care. Four Roses Small Batch and a few sixers of good brew (Oscar Blues Dale's pale maybe?)Roasted meat over fire +++Tom Waits, Phosphorescent, Fred Eaglesmith, Springsteen (Nebraska), or similarStep Brothers, Talladega nights or maybe some Spinal Tap or Lebowski Rock climbing nearby or yard games Epernays, a couple RASCC, throw in a lance for good measureNo hookers, until after the movie. That's just one version I guess. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk 1
dominattorney Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 Tomorrow afternoon around 330 until 11 for me. Will meet my friend the judge at the local cogar shop where I'll buy 5 cigars to give away to someone on a golf course some day to justify our presence. Then we will each smoke a monte especial no 2 while we enjoy a logson saison bretta, transitioning into a victory tart ten (both beers, I'm a snob, Sue me). Then we will have a party d 4 and drink an adelbarts vintage monks (sour belgian dubbel) and finish off with a Fremont barrel aged dark star (stout). Dress code will be shirt sleeves rolled up, no doubt for the judge. Myself, having just come from my afternoon swim, may sport a Henley tee. The conversation will be crass and disgusting: well fitting for a situation without ladies present. To ensure we don't overdo it, we will likely have Pizza for dinner. One can only indulge in so many classy things before one loses touch with one's roots. I hope everyone else gets to enjoy themselves as much as we do. Love my wife, but sometimes it's absence that warms the cockles. I will say this as well. I doubt I put as much thought into anything on a weekly basis as I do my Friday afternoon beer and cigar pairings. Here's to collecting, enjoying and sharing with friends.
meatball41 Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 So as a married guy with kids, I lust for Dad's night off, alone , no noise, no cell phone, email hassle, PTA, practice, etc - Dress code is jeans and T shirt - maybe a flannel if its autumn. Music theme is set to '90's grunge/alt rock with some 80's pop mixed in. The grill will be lit for sure - maybe a nice porterhouse or filet and say some brats for an appetizer, and whatever side dishes. During this "first period" I will consume 4 to 8 nice craft beers, maybe Laguntitas IPA's, maybe Bells Two Hearted or Dogfish 60 min or some combo. Then dinner is served, or the "second period" as I call it - iceberg wedge with bacon blue cheese dressing to start. At this point I uncork the cabernet I've been holding back on because it was "too expensive" ... time to "treat yo'self" because I know she isn't going to hold back on expenses this evening, probably best to have two bottles on hand in case a friend shows up unexpectedly. If not, BONUS for ME! Since I'm super frugal, none will go to waste, all must be consumed in honor of married dads across the world, SALUD! The scotch and cigars "third period" starts about 30 minutes after finishing dinner or after I've read every single article in the current WSJ undisturbed and any other periodicals that need catching up on. For the scotch, I'd better take advantage and go big, she can't argue about it after her spa/dinner/show/drinks/after dinner snacks/uber/after uber snacks/drinks/uber/dinner#2/ bar tab. Balvenie 21 fits the bill!! *Consumption rate may vary in proportion to marital bliss. So the crown jewel of the evening, finally, cigar time. Not only cigar time, but, nobody around, nobody in my $#!@#$, cigar time, Awwwww yeess! Time to hit the deck - pick one of the finest smokes from the stash, maybe a sigVI, maybe a sir winnie, maybe an epic partagas lusitania to prolong the overall experience. Ideally this would be timed with the pay per view FIGHT of the CENTURY or the best college football game in the history of mankind. Repeat scotch/cigars period three as needed or until significant other returns. Cheers! 3
David88 Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 Drinks - Gin (with tonic, martinis, or a combination) Food - Pulled pork Music - Most like just a mixed playlist Movie - Animal House Sports - Boxing and/or rugby Cigars - Lusitania, BBF Dress code - casual T shirt and shorts (although maybe a toga for animal house if the gin is going down well) Hookers - Of course not..... After the week I have had at work this sounds perfect. Now just need to find a way of getting rid of the other half for 8 hours or so!

Otherwise he'll be having bbq sausage for dinner. 3
JohnS Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 The drinks....Sazerac and either Old-fashioned or Martini cocktails. The food...Thai. The music...I have eclectic tastes but Beatles or Beach Boys I rank the highest. The Movie...Again, I have a love of a range of film genres, from westerns, to classics, to comedies, to foreign films, to modern gems. Ultimately, I'll probably settle on watching a Kubrick film again (for the 20th to 30th time!). The Sports...4th Test Australia vs India at Dharamsala. The test that decides the series...can't wait! The Hookers The Cigars (order)... A perfect night would be a Cohiba Piramides Extra or Esplendidos followed by a Montecristo No.1 (or No.4 and No.5 instead) The Dress Code...What are you talking about? Every time I dress myself my wife (and/or my daughter) gets me to change what I'm wearing! Honestly, I have no idea!
PlatypusMaximus Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 Sorry this is so foreign ... but as a single guy I never think of these things. I do what I want to do, when I want to do it. Drives my brothers crazy! Haha. I know relationships have thier advantages ... but it sure is nice to have a one person review committee! You married guys can figure out what to do with 8 hrs. I will probably go to bed. Because there's always tomorrow!! LOL. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk 3
SirVantes Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 Food - A big porterhouse slapped on the grill. Baked potato. Cherry tomato salad. Drinks - A mature barolo from the the stash I save all for me. Movie - Monster night! Either Aliens (RIP Bill Paxton) or Tremors, for the thousandth time. Cigar - A(ny) lonsdale. Single malt. Multiple espressos. Dress Code - T-shirt & shorts. C'mon, it's 30C year-round here! The above is Groundhog Day, cos it's happened over and over and over...
polarbear Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 My missus sometimes works nights, leaving me at home by myself. As much as I enjoy her company, I relish the odd night I get to myself. Had the night to myself last Friday and before I knew it, I had 6 people over my house for beer. The night went pretty much like this. It rained all night, so pizza was ordered and NC's smoked Food- Pizza or BBQ. Depends on what night of the week it is Drinks- Beer. Dark Beer if its raining or IPAs if its a hot humid night Music- 3 Doors Down, Fallout Boy with a little Hugh Laurie to finish off the night Sport- UFC Fight night or highlights playing in the background Cigar- Hamlet by RP if its raining/humid or Diplomatico #2 if its a dry night. Will finish the night off with a bowl or two in our pipes Dress Code- Shorts, Shirts and thongs (flip flops) its too hot up here for any of that formal rubbish

SMQQKIN Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 Fire the grill up & grab a couple of Coronas out of the cooler to hydrate & start with a HDM EE. Next some grilled shrimp & a couple lobster tails. Jimmy Buffet in the background with tank top or t-shirt & flip flops. Next a wedge salad, 2xs baked potato, grilled asparagus, crusty garlic bread, a well marbled prime ribeye & a 2010 bottle of Valdicava. Following dinner an aged Partagas 898 V & a big glass of Ron Zacapa. No movie, head to the fire pit instead, classic rock in the background, light up a Lusitainia, grab a glass of Blantons with two rocks & chat/laugh with the my best mates. Love nights like this!

Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk plus one. this thread could be titled 'how a sane man spends his time'. tonight? i have cooked tripe, we have the broncos and after all the 007 discussions, perhaps skyfall to follow. brought home a couple of boxes from rob's today so every chance of a por larr bellicosa from 08. the postman kindly brought me a sample of the veuve clicquot la grande dame 2006, but i may save that and go with an appleton's 21 year old rum. tomorrow? well, i have an echezeaux lunch so probably bugger all, but sunday, change the flick - spectre? - and more of the same. and before i get lectured, yes, there are benefits to relationships etc, but one of my best mates rang me a few years ago. "time you got married", he said. he had never pushed that at all, ever in the 40 years he has been a great mate. why on earth would you want me to do that, i asked. "why the hell should you be the only one happy?" was the response. 5
Islandboy Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 I’d just fart a lot, while eating, drinking and smoking whatever I want. Ahh, who am I fooling? That’s why she’s out with the girls in the first place 3

SignalJoe Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 As for my ultimate boys day I think it is coming up. I'm helping my buddy who owns a BBQ restaurant at a large BBQ festival. He is also the biggest whiskey fan I know and has an insane collection. I will of course provide the cigars and the festival has an impressive lineup of Texas country artists playing. It should be a full 24+ hours of damn good BBQ, whiskey, cigars and music with good friends. While this is technically not at my "home" we Texans consider ourselves at home as long as the Lone Star flag is flying overhead
BuzzArd Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 The wife... NEVER leaves. Ever. I fear the kids will follow suit. Must figure a way to shake the tree around here. Do what I do every night I want a smoke. Pour a generous pour of a favored bourbon or rum (lately Stranahan's or Zacapa), pick up a couple of sticks (lately Don Pepin blue, black or white and a CC; MPEs are at the top of the pile as are Mag46 and RASCC) my phone and an ear piece. Settle on the front porch and watch a movie or two on the iphone, peruse FOH etc. Usually wake when the earliece beeps "low battery" to find an unlit stub haning from the corner of my mouth and an unspilled beverage in one hand. Swill the sauce, relight the stub and repeat. Or save the stub for tomorrow, whichever my aching back and neck will allow by then... 1

"good?") 8 hours Nothing final - but here's what's up for consideration The drinks - Pisco Sour? / Whiskey Sour? / Rusty Nail? / port after dinner? / maybe start with a martini or Gibson? The food - either a great steak potatoe and mushrooms or homemade pasta with alfredo sauce, mushrooms and prosciutto The music - we don't need no stinking music! LOLOL The Movie - hmmm there's about 10 "guy flicks" in the line up so far - or maybe a binge watch of sopranos? The Sports - if there's no hockey game on, its movies. The Hookers - oh ok. The Cigars (order). I think I'd have to start off with a long smoke HDM DC? Espy? RyJ Capeleto? Of course a Coro will be in the mix.- Maybe a reyes if I make it to 3 sticks. The Dress Code - we don't need no stinking dress code!
