rhcolbert Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 Coming to the conclusion it's my favorite vitola. I smoke maybe once a week so it's either a 2-3 cigar session or one large one. I really enjoy the DC for my weekly mental down time. got some SLR DCs. Love em. Purchased the HDM DCs last week orvsocwhen they were in the 24/24. what next? punch DCs, boli CGs, parti lusi,s or something else? Please no reccomendstions for something that's impossible to find if ya don't mind? Thanks crew!
forgop Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 Given that BCG's (not a DC by the way) are being discontinued, those should be your #1 priority. If a cab is desired, the Punch DC cabs are also being discontinued. The rest are still regular production and easy to buy at any time. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk

Guest Nekhyludov Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 The Punch DC is my favorite cigar, hands down. So I'm extremely biased, but I would strongly recommend picking up a single from the INT STORE and if you enjoy it half as much as I do, grab the first HQ/PSP box you can.
Corylax18 Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 My vote is for Lusis. Truly some spectacular cigars that really take you on a journey from start to finish. I also enjoy RYJ Churchills quite a bit, pretty mild, very different from a Lusi of BGC, but very nice in their own right. I dont think you can go wrong with any of the cigars in that DC/Churchill range. Really just depends on the flavor profile you are looking for. I dont usually have the time to smoke an entire DC, but I really relish the times I do.
SMQQKIN Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 50 Cabs of HQ/PSP Luisis. No Brainer if you can swing it. 1
Texwrangler Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 for once I'm in the majority....I'm in the Parti Lusi boat when it comes to the DC.
rhcolbert Posted March 10, 2017 Author Posted March 10, 2017 Ravi's got 10ct boxes of lusi. If all the DCs came in 10ct boxes that would be the way to go for me. I'd by all of em then go for a cab of my favs 1
dominattorney Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 Punch double corona is one of my favorite cigars as well. Can't go wrong.
mbflash80 Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 Punch DC is my favorite cigar of all time...to me they are more consistent than any of the other DCs...however, I enjoy Lusis, HDM, and Gigantes too...actually planning on finally having a Don Alejandro tonight...I feel like cuban tobacco is perfectly represented in a DC...you cant go wrong with any of them.
rhcolbert Posted March 10, 2017 Author Posted March 10, 2017 So I see punch platinos out there too. D.C. Dimensions, but 900$ish min for a box!? Whoa!!!!
mbflash80 Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 Platinos is a great cigar but not worth the mark up...its a regional...stick to reg production and you will be just fine
Cigarlibrarian Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 If you can find them - I like the Quay D'Orsay Imperiales for a change of pace - kind of light along the lines of a RYJ Churchill. Not an everyday stick but nice if you want to tone it down a little. And of course you can't (well maybe rarely) go wrong with the Cohiba Esplendidos.
TheMonk Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 All of them are worth trying IMO, even the inconsistent VR Don Alejandro (also discontinued). My favorites are the Lusis, SLR DC and Sir Winnie (not exactly a DC, but close).
btort910 Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 Everyone's got an opinion but my vote goes to Lusi's.
Cigarsandmalts Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 Easiest thing to do is buy Prez's DC sampler. Smoke them all (not in one sitting, unless you're a monster!) then decide what you like and buy boxes. Or you could buy a box of each (Lusi, HdM, VR DA, BCG, RAG, PDC, RyJC) regular production without trying them like I did, but thats a pricy proposition. 3
cigaraholic Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 When I think of or smoke a great Hoyo DC I get pumpkin pie, SLR white peaches, so the Punch seems next in line with its citrus orange blossom yummyness. Then you've got the RAG, best fruitcake you've ever tasted. And Lucy, the best friend I have on the back nine, Italian leather, espresso and a spicy snickers bar.....I usually play a Hoyo on the front nine. Obviously I love them all... And a great box ....or 2 or the BCG's couldn't hurt! 1
JohnS Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 @rhcolbert, this is such a timely topic, I was thinking the very same thing myself this morning! I readily admit that I have been reluctant to smoke longer cigars in the past, but the recent Partagas Lusitania in the 2016 Xmas Sampler and the upcoming deletion of the Vegas Robaina Don Alejandro made me re-think my view. I was having another look at this thread that I researched a few months ago today... My how things change in a short time. The Vegas Robaina Don Alejandro and Bolivar Corona Gigantes is being deleted in 2017, leaving precious few other double corona (49 ring gauge x 194 mm) or churchill (47 ring gauge x 178 mm) options. Other marcas I believe are in a production hiatus currently. For example, I feel the Ramon Allones Gigantes and Punch Double Corona has been cut back, although I do sincerely hope I'm mistaken. We'll see if these two vitolas come up on 24:24 soon. In my opinion, currently of this 12 vitolas in that thread above, 4 are readily available...the Partagas Lusitanias, Cohiba Esplendidos, Romeo y Julieta Churchill and Hoyo de Monterrey Double Corona. 3
rhcolbert Posted March 11, 2017 Author Posted March 11, 2017 @JohnS it is scary when you think about it. Time to grab some while we can. i may just pull trigger on the punch and lusi whenever in 24/24. Costly, but 3 25ct or cabs of DCs won't be a bad lot o cigars to sit on! 1
MrGlass Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 There has been lots of good recommendations so far. Given the recent discontinuation of the Bolivar Corona Gigantes and Vegas Robaina Don Alejandro, I would aim for one of these if you have the inclination to try either. If not, go for the Partagas Lusitanias - the recent production of these has been fantastic, and they are available in a 10 count box if you just want to try. 1

Im a casual nc smoker and very seldom get any flavors. Poor taste buds or cigars?

Don't sweat it; keep an open mind and enjoy what you like at your own pace. 1
foursite12 Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 Don't forget the "heavy" Churchill, the SCdH El Morro. Hard to find now, unfortunately. Churchill length in a 49 ring.
