HectorLopez Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 I just received 3 very nice boxes from our amazing hosts, and I have one question. This is the first box of Juan Lopez no.2's that I have purchased. I was looking around the box, and I do not see any codes on them. Is this normal? I like to enter all this info into my database for my records. These were purchased from the 24:24 around 3 weeks ago. They are the PSP version. They were up on the 4th of December here in the US. Looking forward to hearing from everyone on this. Hector
JohnS Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 SEA ABR 16 And Rob's description... "Perfect. Just bloody perfect. Star performer in the Robusto ranks. Big flavours time after time after time. If you only want the best, then these are your cigars. I wasn’t surprised when Ken told me that one of the best cigars he has had this year were the Juan Lopez Seleccion number 2. I couldn’t agree more. The Juan Lopez Seleccion Number 2 floats under the radar of most. It shouldn’t. Well it shouldn’t if you enjoy a medium full cigar, it shouldn’t if you enjoy notes orange peel, chocolate and strong cream coffee all wrapped in a spine of quality toasted tobacco. They are good generally. These today are something special again. Ungodly brilliant. Will they age well…without a doubt. Can you smoke them young?.....I can’t keep my hands off them. However give them 90 days to acclimatize to your humidor." 1
NSXCIGAR Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 I don't ever recall seeing a box missing a code entirely. Smudged, missing a letter, too faint to read--yes. But never one missing altogether. Rob's probably seen it many times though but I'm curious to know how often. It's pretty rare I'd guess. Luckily, you bought from our host so the code is probably one of maybe two different codes from the batch he posted and you have nothing to worry about. Juan Lopez S1 and S2 have been stellar since 14 and are performing very well with some great aging potential to boot. They're definitely in the top 5 cigars of the year. And some think they are currently the strongest cigars in production. Last one I had was a SS1 from 14 and it was quite robust and strong. I will be picking up a box very soon, however.

Jimmy_jack Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 I have two of those from our host and JL#1. I'm a big fan. Mine have the codes. You're fine, they're from Rob. Human made, human error. How do the sticks look? if it's from 3 weeks ago they're likely from the same batch as my last box, which was PSP. SEA April 2016 1
garbandz Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 also the Lopez brand is upside down on the slide top. should be the other way so the seal does not block the brand.........and the habanos tape can be on the top right side.

They have been this way for a while.

The cigars look good upon first glance. Will look at them closer tomorrow morning.

Yup like @Jimmy_jack mentioned. I've owned a few boxes of JL1s across different years/codes all have the upside down lids.
Popular Post El Presidente Posted December 21, 2016 Popular Post Posted December 21, 2016 Hector, if you have a problem on the box code let me know when I am back and I will verify with the stock from that day (although John S may have already done so ) No box code is a regular enough occurrence. Taking a punt 1/200. While I check the cigars, I don't check each code on the bottom out of a mastercase. I will check each 5 or 10 (they can occasionally change in a Mastercase TOS/EML) I don't personally see a non box code as a fail. Cigars come first. However, increasingly, globally, people are looking to a long term investment market. If it is a concern I will swap it for you (if possible). You make the decision. Have a great Christmas. Rob 6

For instance, a box of VR Famosos at the LCDH Andorra. At this time one could deduce the year of boxing from the hexadecimal code on the green warranty seal. 1
Philc2001 Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 My box of La Gloria Medaille D'or #4 didn't have any box code either.
Lotusguy Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 My box of La Gloria Medaille D'or #4 didn't have any box code either. Even on the cardboard?

TheGipper Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 Never seen a JLo 1 or 2 cab lid that wasn't done in that goofy "upside down" way. Even the 50 cabs were all that way. I've probably had about 4-5 boxes over the years with no factory code stamp. Rare, but it happens. Even had a 15-pack cardboard pack of Montecristo No 2 without a stamp on the inside of the top recently.
